Radio was playing
I was knocked out on the floor
Staring at the floor boards
She kicked me to the floor

I said to myself
"This ain't no way to have fun"
Then she looked me in the eye and said
"Your life has just begun"

Now I want some water, not some whiskey
I want some water in this cup
Don't tell me of your fortunes
Then wish me best of luck

I've seen that face before
In a million magazines
All beauty on the outside
And the inside's just as clean

Then she say "Love, it's just not enough"
Then she say "Love, it's just not enough"

Now the telephone's been ringing
And I'm knocking at her door
Standing in the hall she say
"I've seen that face before"

Now I don't want to own her
I just come for some more
No, I don't want to own her
I just come for some more of that

Love, it's just not enough
Love, it's just not enough

Love, it's just not enough
Love, it's just not enough

So when the sky's ain't blue
And stars don't shine
And everything ain't right
You go walking down that hallway
See the girl from paradise

Now you won't want to own her
You'll just sit, you'll want to cry
No, you won't want to own her
You'll just sit and wonder why

This love, it's just not enough
This love, it's just not enough

She say, "Love, it's just never enough"
Love, it's just not enough
Love

5.6?  Sheesh, people.  The lyrics may not be all that great but it's a pretty solid work from 1990 given all the other garbage that was on the radio back then.

Also this song is not 1991, it's 1990.  Came out with the Coming Down album late that summer.
Actually going to see Love & Rockets TONIGHT in Chicago - psyched they are touring again! But apparently no plans for a new album, however, Daniel Ash is releasing an album soon I read.

Those are really some seriously bad lyrics. That's a solid 1 for me.

Ya know, sometimes love isn't enough. I think he makes a good point.
I had the good fortune to see Daniel Ash on tour in Portland, OR in 2002 or so. It was one of the most fun concerts I've ever been to. It was just him and his band and he seemed to be touring just to have fun. He was visibly enjoying himself and so was the crowd. He sang all the right Love and Rocket's song and ended the show with an extended version of "Go" from Tones on Tail. He actively encouraged audience members to come on stage and sing the "go" part from the song and he kept doing this until as many people in the crowd who wanted to do so actually got to so so. As a consequence he finished the song with maybe 50 extra people on the stage with him all happily singing along. As a big Love and Rockets and Bauhaus fan, this is a great memory! : )
Just learned Love & Rockets is on tour now on the West coast now - hope they make it to Chicago! And a new album would be most welcome too.

The song a 6 for me only b/c there are so many other better tunes from Mr. Ash

You wankers. I'd like to see your work - if you are equal to stringing words together. Bet you best work is gibberish compared to this.
Awesome song! I love Daniel Ash! ❤️

Interesting this was played after a U2 song, since the melody sounds almost identical to U2's The Fly.

Excepting the fact that Daniel Ash actually PLAYS the guitar!
Yummy.

Yea, it's one of things I love about having an actual human DJ behind the scenes. You can hear the connections between songs.

Rather just get “So Alive."

Yeah, it's the same guy. Daniel Ash was a member of the band Love & Rockets in the 80s and 90s. They're the ones who recorded "So Alive". They were great live; I saw them in 1988? or 89? when they were on tour opening for The Cure.

And in Tones on Tail and in Bauhaus.
Looks like he's wishing it was still 1981
I feel obligated to comment since the last was 16 years ago.  I'm still thrilled to hear Love & Rockets (or Daniel Ash, as it turns out) any time!
No

They do sound similar, but not to the degree for me not too say I like this much more than "So Alive". It sounds good in the RP flow.
I\'m alive....uh huh so alive!
Man, I remember buying the \"casingle\" of this tune... :)
Oo! Daniel Ash rehashed his L&R hit \'So Alive\' after just a couple years!
