Trudging slowly over wet sand, back to the bench
Where your clothes were stolen
This is the coastal town that they forgot to close down
Armageddon, come Armageddon, come Armageddon, come

Everyday is like Sunday, everyday is silent and gray
Hide on the promenade scratch out a postcard
And how I dearly wish I was not here
In the seaside town that they forgot to bomb
Come, come, come, nuclear bomb

Everyday is like Sunday, everyday is silent and gray
Trudging back over pebbles and sand
And a strange dust lands on your hands and on your face
On your face, on your face, on your face

Everyday is like Sunday, win yourself a cheap tray
Share some greased tea with me, everyday is silent and grey
Everyday is like Sunday, everyday is like Sunday
Everyday is like Sunday, everyday is like Sunday

For the covers of this song,  no other is as good as this.

Utterly splendid cover! Morrissey has become such an offensive and bigoted arse over the last few years that I’ve moved from idolizing him to disliking him. Partly as a result, I find I’m happier listening to this than the original. Chrissie Hynde also has a considerably better voice.

The increasing normalization of science denial and racism has ruined a number of artists for me, and I find it harder to ignore for musicians than for actors. For example, I love Van Morrison's previous work, but when you feel you need to write "protest songs" against effective Coronavirus responses, you can piss all the way off.

Oh, now I want to hear them back to back!
I used to love her voice so much. My taste seems to have changed a lot as I don't like it anymore. I suck I guess... or getting old.
COVID Related Comment: Lately, every day feels like Monday.
Such a cool version!
Booooooorrrrrrriiinnnngg. That's what it's like hearing this voice.
Nice cover of the Morrissey song. It is worth looking out  Morrissey's cover of 'Back on the Chaingang'!  Great version!

But you do.

Ah - do I smell a Morrissey hater?  Love the Smiths but Chrissy's sultry voice makes everything yummy.
Needs to follow with "What Difference Does it Make?" by Bobby Bare, Jr.

Lame.
Not good....bad cover
A great homage to an amazing song that captures the feel of an empty seaside town perfectly.

Killing a brilliant Song by Morrissey.........
I dunno, I kinda like it, especially juxtaposed against that cover of Back on the Chain Gang that Moz put out recently.

Me too. Not so sure CH has added anything to Mozzer's original though?
Urgghhhh! Kill it, kill it with fire. This is an abomination of a classic tune.

I had no idea this cover existed until now, very nice. I'm not against having more Chrissie Hynde in my day. Thanks Bill!
Super cool!
