Waiting at the station.
Waiting for the right moves.
Waiting in the basement.
Waiting for the right cues.
Waiting in a daydream.
Waiting in this slipstream.
Waiting...

Waiting in the right bars.
Waiting in the right shoes.
Waiting in a fast car.
Waiting in the airports,
waiting for my air-miles.
Waiting in slow motion,
coming through the turnstiles...

And if you ever change you mind,
you know I'm not hard to find.
And if you ever need someone,
I'll still be waiting...

Waiting with the orphans.
Waiting for the bee stings,
they tell me that success brings.
Waiting in the half-light.
Waiting through your whole life.
Waiting for an ideal, a low deal, a no deal.
Play your stereotype, oh yeah...

And if you ever find the time,
you know I'm not far behind.
And if you ever need someone,
I'll still be waiting...

Just waiting, for a friend.
Waiting...

I said it's alright!
It's alright, my friend...
Yeah it's alright!

Just waiting...

I hear a lot of Tom Petty.

I hear it
The way the guitar starts to quietly growl as the song builds... so delicious!

I can hear a hint, yes. It's a comparison The Devlins probably welcome.

Very nice :) Just grows and grows on me - now up to 8

Glad this track got a spin or two lately...
Saw the Devlins years ago when they opened for Hot House Flowers. Great show. We had not heard of them before , but became fans that night.
It would be great if "Waiting" from Kevin Gilbert was the next song!  Or even if it was in the rotation!

Did it better. This is too thin.
wow. RP is the bridge from other great stations that have bit the dust. it's a sanctuary a safe haven for good taste. consistently outstanding.
feels timeless; hope they are still together.  on our way to mars, makes me imagine...

Definitely hear the similarity to the late Mr. Petty (not Richard).
Like the song - probably the weakest one on the album though. Saw them supporting Del Amitri years ago and they were superb.
I'll be waiting for RP to play another song..
I  was waiting on the road to Escondido
Spoken :  On the hard fast train, on the road to gain.
I said, someone turning the guns into silver on the border
Spoken : With a shiny cloak and an unseen silver dagger
                     Auberge Auberge !
I took to my heals because,  I have seen that movie too it goes l like '' Cause this is the naked truth and this is the light''

Devlins Waiting out shines most of Petty's tunes.
Still waiting? Oh... okay.

too much waiting....{#Curtain}
Nice!
Poor man's Tom Petty.

Another fine export from Baile Àtha Cliath (aka Dublin). 10 from the moved Nottingham jury.
Reminds me of TTWS...just not as good
Good God... Waiting for this song to be over.

i really really like this song and would love to hear more of the Devlins
they were also in "the closer soundtrack", with another good track. they're nice to listen to.
I like this - who are the Devlins?
Hell of a cool song!
Builds and builds, superb song. Like this try, some Rubyhorse.
1997...Hmmm... I wonder if Incubus heard this song at some point early on...
Never I´ve head this band.

agreed with it all but the Lennon thing...Lennon, on his own, did mostly crap. This is not crap.

Well said, Westslope.  I think you summed this up perfectly.

Absolutely; I've never heard this song here, but as soon as it started that scene came to mind. Nate is standing on the sidewalk with  people walking by in slow motion, glancing at him, as he looks up and sees his dead father wave to him from a departing bus.

How do you mean by itself?  How would it be stronger by not being by itself?  I think it is a fine little ditty.

Cool — thanks for the recommendation.  I have only ever heard of the Devlins on soundtracks!  I'll have to check out the whole album.

I was able to get all 5 seasons from my public library, it was a very interesting series with a pretty good soundtrack.

Never saw the show, but this song made me stop what I was doing and come see who it was.  Seriously digging on this.

Love that show! Love that scene.  Love Nate.  What does "Waiting" refer to? Waiting for death? The inevitable?

Yeah buddy!  {#Bananajam}

Same here.  There are some real clinkers which have snuck in but for the most part it's stellar.

Man, do I LOVE this radio station.

Long live the FAT!

Me too.  I was living in a small apartment in Goose Hollow (Portland) when the series first debuted; I totally remember this scene. . .

If you like this song, I highly recommend the Devlins' first two albums, Drift (1993) and Waiting (1997), which this song is from. I can't vouch for their latest two CDs b/c I haven't heard much from them, but I really dug Drift and Waiting when they were released. Just wanted you all to know there's more to them than the 6 Feet Under Soundtrack!
Oh, I totally agree! I've never seen "6 Feet Under" (although I've heard good things about it.) "Drift" is an excellent CD. I had it on cassette, and it went the way of all good things (uh, remodel, bagged stuff, sacrifice...) but now I have it on CD, and it's like being reunited with an old friend. I just love The Devlins - so ethereal, spacy and perceptive (and how in the world can even a single person be all those things, and how much more difficult is it for a group to be all those things?) Dunno about anyone else, but I'm really loving the music Bill and Rebecca are programming these days. Kudos to them!

First time listen on this: it is very moody and picturesque.

I think it was right before the ending credits in the very first episode, when Nate is standing on the curb with a blank stare after a jog. One of these times where the screenplay and music just fits together perfectly.
It's not a bad tune, I quite like it. I once bought a Devlins album though- the very benchmark of mediocre rock.

In this case, I think the following definition applies: 2. The area of reduced pressure or forward suction produced by and immediately behind a fast-moving object as it moves through air or water. Bicyclists and race car drivers often use this to cut back on energy/fuel use.
This sounds exactly like Neil Young's big new single... who stole it from who?

Waiting for the next song

That's clearly not true. A person has the right to politely ask or advocate whatever s/he wants of anybody. Others have an equal right to ignore or deny whatever is asked, including the right to ask the questioner to stop. But the act of "asking" is fundamental to all expression, and can't be separated from it. Frawg wrote:

great song from this Dublin's band.
Devlins - Waiting I found myself Waiting for this crap to end lol
I love this song. I've almost worked it out on my guitar...which is saying a lot as I'm a guitar rookie.
I had never heard this song prior to finding RP about a year ago. I really like it and I hear it in my head a LOT. (Not a bad thing.) *edit* guess I'm repeating myself
