Flocking to the sea
Crowds of people wait for me
Sea gulls scavenge
Steal ice cream
Worries vanish
Within my dream

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

Fishing boats sail past the shore
No singing may-day any more
The sun is shining
The Water's clear
Just you and I walk along the pier

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

A cool breeze flows but mind the wasp
Some get stung it's worth the cost
I'd love to stay
The city calls me home
More hassles fuss and lies on the phone

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control with you,
And living, living,
And I, living, by the sea

If this depicts only 1% of your life experiences, you should not worry.
Well, as I've input before, "some folks like less cheeba, but I'm ok with More Cheeba!"
Sublime.
Weston-super-Mare here I come!

Where is this fish & chips shop again?
This is like one of THE best songs ever.

Absolutely one of my favorite songs of all time, and probably my intro to this group; pretty sure RP turned me onto this way back when. We had furniture just like in the cover pic down in the Rec Room, and an old-school hi-fi console set, too. Many cool memories re-fired!

I know the sentiment (both furniture and music-wise)!

I always liked this track by Morcheeba, one of a few that my (now long time ago ex) girlfriend brought to our relationship (along with Mazzy Star, Portishead, etc.) and thankfully I ripped all those CDs for her/me (and OMG I found out quick how much I HATED iTunes and Apple in general) and we partied hardy in the Seattle UDist (Go DAWGS!) - I think I have some great memories from those days - just need to clear the mental cobwebs and scrape the resin off my neurotransmitters ;-)

Long Live RP!

**EDIT** After all these years, it finally dawned on me what sounded familiar about this tune.  For me, it has a total Summertime vibe to it.  Have I asked for more Sam Cooke yet?  Long Live RP!!
Wow.  Thanks, BillG.
"Church!"

We still have a table just like that.  70's retro - yeah!

I don t get tired of it
This is an album to take you places. It matters not where...

P.S. Awesome guitar towards the end, a moment of genius.
Love this one

feels like laying in the ocean with a slow ripple floating me along
sun above sea below
warm and cool at the same time
I liked it at first, but I've heard it too often and now it is irritating.

Sure, she has this amazing ability
She's instantly making  friends with herself.
Sure,  she'd teach me one or two things.
But now I'm hellbent to find out
Who's who & which is which
Instant chill — great retro feeling.
"Calgon, take me away!"
Dropped in to rate this a 9. . . Just so I could then rate it a 10 again!

Wac, wac, wacky wacka wacka
This music is what brought me to RP when the song was fresh..........and what keeps me here.
More Cheeba.

Dude —Skye could read anything drab (ie: the phonebook -that thing delivered on the doorstep that goes right into the recycle bin) and it would sound AMAZING riiiiight?!  {#Wink}
8 -> 9
Concur with the previous five comments. (BTW, this is one of my first "Radio Paradise Favorites" playlist additions; it's not in my "Chill Set" because that one has minimal percussion—although Morcheeba is there— but this is still great after all these years.)
Falls into a similar category as Air and Zero 7 which I like.
What a great song! So smooth and the hook really grabs you and pulls you in. And that voice. Love it. Thanks RP.
Another RP discovery. Thanks!

I guess that's an East End accent - pronouncing an "L" more like it's a "W".  I could be wrong.

I always think of Brighton when I hear this....Merry Xmas rpeeps.

Welcome home Skye. Back where you belong!
10 for danceabililty - well, really an 8 'cause I don't like to dance that much but will make an exception to dance slow . . . and I can dance to this.
More Cheeba por favor.

Likewise.  By 2000 my last spliff was 17 years behind me.  Still trying not to feel old though.  Involves avoiding mirrors a lot.

I just love diving into this ... perfect voice for this song (and a lovely mood to it all)
Sexy song.
Radio Paradise...... it's music like this that makes this station the bes!t (along with all the other eclectic music)
Great guitar solo, great voice, great mood, great song. MSG's favorite Morcheeba song.
I always think of this : Jumping off the cliff
You know, I really like this, but I like a lot of songs with this "modern lounge" motif.  Chillin' baby.

Did all that rock out, drive too fast, climb the water tower shit years ago.  Now?  Chillin'.  Just like Morcheeba.

You should, its a great album and well worth it if this tune floats your boat.

Wack wack wackie wacka wacka. . . .

Sublime...classic stuff! Listening to this on hols in Portugal a few weeks ago...mmmm

I saw them in 96/97 in Bristol Uni and fell deeply in love with her, she just gets a hold of you.   It was a love affair between the two of us in a room full of 1000 people.

Definitely the same genre, however this album was released Mar 1998.  Air's "Playground Love" came out Feb 2000, and Zero 7's first album came out June 2001.

Radio Paradise dot Calm.

Had never heard of these guys then RP played some. Now I have all their albums...
That seems to happen a lot when I listen to RP...

Nice collection of music chosen by human ears and taste... Like a good friend saying "Listen to this..."

The Stills-Halo the Harpoons into Morcheeba-The Sea........oowahhh...nice groove on a Friday night!
Patty Griffin followed by Morcheeba.  1998 was a fine year.

Wonderful song, wonderful album, wonderful cover art.

Perfect for today. Thinking of my Dad (R.I.P 2010), Bermuda and a home with pink sand.
This song is in its second decade on RP and was among the first I heard when I joined years ago. Never tire of it.
Still a 10
Somebody posted this incredible BASE jumping video that used this song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSsjl_HIRBM

which I watch over and over. The music is perfect.

This is great Morcheeba
..makes my sofa much nicer on this sunny sunday....{#Sleep}

God, I had forgotten how much I still like Morcheeba!

To cast a negative light on this - Morcheeba's lyrics always seem like they were written by a five-year old.  Still, on the positive side, I catch myself rocking to the rhythm and sometimes humming to the tunes.  Dang - I hate it when I'm ambiguous.

"Five-year old" is overly harsh.  The lyrics are pretty simple, but they at least rate a clever teenager. {#Mrgreen}

Oh, you're right, Ziggytrix - still, I think "Tape Loop" is one of my favorite songs, and betcha can't figure out why... (Hint:  La Femme Nikita.")

Ahhhh!  Good times down by the sea.  Hearing the lines moving against the sailboats....

I always think of the base jumping in Norway video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSsjl_HIRBM

That'd be either DJ Swamp or DJ First Rate duckin' around on the turntables.

The MORE I hear, the more I buy. Never heard of them berfore R-P...Now, one of my favorite bands.
R-P is an expensive habit... But I really enjoy it. Thanks for the -humans- making the mix... no more robot algorithms ever again...

My favorite Morcheeba song! Sweet memories :)

With this kind of groove, Morcheeba could babble like my 6 month old for all I care.  Great stuff.

YES
I just discovered that I have a version of this song on a CD I got from www.KINK.FM when I lived in Salem.  Morcheeba stopped by the KINK studios and performed this song in the live performance lounge. I don't remember which CD it's on, but I bet you could go to the website and find it...

Really? I totally disagree. I like the lyrics a great deal - simple, to the point and understandable.
I want to go to the beach everytime I hear this track.  So mellow
Good sound , lovery voice!
Sort of a Zero 7 feel...Play Ground Love?
I feel chilled already
