Too low to find my way
Too high to wonder why
I've touched this place before
Somewhere in another time
Now I can hear the sun
The clouds drifting through the blinds
A half a million thoughts
Are flowing through my mind

A satellite recalled your voice
Sent me round the world again
All the night you've dreamt away
Sent me round my heart again
One touch upon my lips
And all my thoughts are clear
I feel your smoky mist
Up to the stratosphere

Too low to find my way
Too high to wonder why
I've touched this place before
Somewhere in another time
Now I can hear the sun
The clouds drifting through the blinds
A half a million thoughts
Are flowing through my mind

Too low to find my way
Too high to wonder why
I've touched this place before
Somewhere in another time
Now I can hear the sun
The clouds drifting through the blinds
A half a million thoughts
Are flowing through my mind

( French Version )

Trop déprimée pour m'en tirer
Trop bien pour rien piger
J'ai deja connu cet état
Ailleurs plein d'autrefois
J'entends le soleil
Les nuages par les volets
Un million de pensées
Envahi mon esprit

Un satellite rappelait ta voix
orbite dans le monde pour toi
Tu as revé toute la nuit
En envie de mon coeur
Je t'effleures des levres et puis
Ca me donne les idées claires
Je sens ton suc se dissiper
Jusqu'a la stratosphere

Trop déprimée pour m'en tirer
Trop bien pour rien piger
J'ai deja connu cet état
Ailleurs plein d'autrefois
J'entends le soleil
Les nuages par les volets
Un million de pensées
Envahi mon esprit

I grew up next to the Welland Canal system between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. The international freighters brought us the finest and freshest, lovingly pressed into cotton canvas bags so saturated with kif that we'd cut the bags themselves into small squares and use them to make tea. Finest kind.

I have been through that Canal on a small boat, and never knew those "Lakers" could provide such fine "imports"  Living in Buffalo at the time Hash was a rare rare find.

Is that Blonde Lebanese?
Gosh, so much one learns from reading the comments on RP!

No, that'll be Lebanese Red, which was my favourite brand of hash way back when. Smooth, soft, mellow, and with a real Clang! Honk! Tweet! hit in the tail. If dope were legal, Red Leb would have been a DOCG. Now it's all bloody skunk, which to good blow is what Carlsberg Special Brew is to a fine Bordeaux :(

Furry Freak Brothers cover.

Man...the Three Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers... gotta love it!
today must be Ground Hogs Day, we hear the the same song over and over. Thank goodness you slipped in New Order.

First heard TC on RP and the wife and I are big fans.
Have seen them in concert !  Great stuff

When I first got clued in to TC right here on RP I thought it was just a really good electronic band. Come to find out that almost all of their music is done instrumentally and vocally. Very little comes from the computer. Thanks RP for cluing me into another great band.

Not exactly. TC started out as two guys doing nothing but sampling creating lounge music. The name "thievery" comes from stealing song samples, so to speak. Overtime they developed a band to create the sound they created using samples. They're really not one or the other, but both.

There are at least another 20 of their tunes that get played here.  It must be your timing.
AWESOME — TC defined the new millennium for me

It cannot be 16 years since this came out!?! That is terrifying!

Right ON!
Oh, YES! A fave song - and third in a most impressive, applause-worthy set from Bill today:

Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Peter Gabriel - Of These, Hope
Thievery Corporation - Lebanese Blonde

{#Cheesygrin} {#Clap} {#Music}

(I only wish I had been at my desk for Shawn Colvin - Shotgun Down the Avalanche and Florence + The Machine - Long & Lost a few songs prior!)
When I look out my window
Many sights to see
And when I look in my window
So many different people to be
That it's strange, so strange
You've got to pick up every stitch
You've got to pick up every stitch
You've got to pick up every stitch
Mmm-mm-mmm, must be the season of the witch
Must be the season of the witch, yeah
Must be the season of the witch

A staple in my playlists. Thievery Corp was one of the best Chill groups to come out of trip hop.

Just bumped this to a 10. It's a 16 year old song that has aged well. It's so smooth and mellow. I always stop to take the song in when it comes on.
Superb
Irresistible.
Nice groove!

Because it saves you the 1 second it takes to click on the Lyrics link or because random lyrics from other songs are more fun to read than comments from people who are just criticizing the song or others opinion?

Mirror Conspiracy was definitely TC's high point.

Need aspirin? Switch to a station that plays obnoxious commercials all day long. You'll find out where to buy aspirin and all the other crap that makes your heart content.

Even after listening to this tune how many times, I just now heard the bass line as Donovan's "Season of the Witch". Kinda cool. It's not exactly the same riff, but a similar progression. Sounds like it's probably in the same key too.

This song is in A minor, Mr. Leitch's tune is in A major. The bass line is similar though, but each has only five different notes.

I LOVE this song (my fave from the Garden State soundtrack) - but I can't believe I've never heard this French version before! Since my college major was French, and I love all things Francophile, now I love this song even more.

Only the first 3 notes of those songs are the same.

As John Lennon said, "There's only so many notes".

Had to know, so I looked it up.  The English is the "original version" according to wiki.   I think I prefer the fluidity (meter?) of the lyrics in the English version.

It is certainly similar to Donovan's two-chord jam, but this tune seems to have at least a third chord.

Yes. nearly the same bass line.

That is because we are a bilingual nation, and ''blonde'' works in English and in French.
(BTW ''blonde'' has an alternate meaning in French: girlfriend.)

just sayin'
