they say it can't be proven
but I'm holding the truth in my hand
I guess I got a little dizzy
countin grains of sand

they treat you just like venus
but it's not so black and white i
t's not love you're after
and you know that I'm right

I guess you're gonna scream
till they bring the cameras
you're gonna flap your wings
till you leave the ground
but you can only fly so high
until you have to come down

I'm frozen and I'm jealous
I want to ride with you
I never could get over
how you laugh on cue.
Restitution's easy
throwing coins to the depraved
but you got to get on your knees
if you wanna be saved...

I guess you're gonna scream
till they bring the cameras
you're gonna flap your wings
till you leave the ground
but you can only fly so high
until you have to come down

you're everybody's minor hero
but you got a major flaw
cause when the wind starts blowin
you go down like straw.
I can't afford the sugar
you can never make the bitter sweet
no matter how hard you try
you only bring defeat...

I guess you're gonna scream
till they bring the cameras
you're gonna flap your wings
till you leave the ground
but you can only fly so high
until you have to come down

I was thinking this was Costello and was wondering why I hadn't heard this from him before now.

I'm diggin' this.
Have I heard him before? First listen, this is OUTSTANDING. Thanks RP. Followed by the ever-stunning Goldfrapp. Perfect Sunday autumn groove …………...
Like Costello, a little (little?) nasally.
Cleveland Proud!  Thanks for playing.  Please explore more of their catalog.
He has a lot better songs than this to play.
First album I heard was "Flown The Acid World. Great listening!
Amazingly useless comments here. (Yes, even this one)
This dude has such a great, deep catalogue, it would be nice if RP explored it in more depth.
Awful awful awful. He clearly has too many friends with access to recording studios. Trying so hard it backfires.
"Kicks" by DC5 in late '60s.
Super talented guy.  Not his best song, but his early catalog is impressive.

You caught me. I'm not a fan of Orthodox Judaism (See original post), or Orthodox anything. And I won't stand for people who don't spend as much time and effort on their appearance as I do. Later on tonight, when I host a bi-monthly meeting of people who think the media is riddled with hidden racism, sexism, gender-ism, and homophobia, my good looking friends and I will get sauced on expensive Spanish wines and make fun of the Republican candidates for president.

agreed

Not bad, but not particularly impressive, either.

FStS is a fine album.  Saw him do most of it solo acoustic in Denver back in the early 90s.

Hmmm, is it your belief that all of these traits make him a better musician or are you surprised that a musician you like has all of these traits?

Interesting but depressing lyrics and rather old-fashioned music

Was truly inspired by this guy in the mid-nineties and saw him in concert twice.  There were several songs that always brought a shimmer to my eyes and weighted resonance to my heart (e.g. Midnight Walk in the Ruins, Only Innocent, Impermanent Things, Weight of the Wait, How Did It Come Down to This, Beneath the Damage and the Dust, Flown This Acid World), unfortunately none of which ever made it to the Radio Paradise play list. He's been prolific: https://www.peterhimmelman.com/home.html

Love Peter Himmelman...but this is his worst album. Still...I met him after a concert once...he was gracious and kind....actually reflecting the persona behind his lyrics. Kinda nice to know his art is authentic.

I concur. It's all a little too familiar.

2nd that! Whatup Korndog
Not that much predictable. Has some interesting transitional sections.
This is taking the place of thousands of better songs that could be on the playlist.
This tune is pretty good...but he put out a fine album in the 90s called "Flown This Acid World".
I was just about to comment on the backup vocals; they help make this a good song.

When I heard this song, I scrolled through the posts hoping to see that someone else thought that Elvis Costello was in this one. Great minds think alike. And great musicians sometimes sound alike.
" Restitution's easy, throwin' coins to the depraved, but ya gotta get upon your knees if you want to be saved." ... ...
Um.....No thanks.

Good one, though I think we've already been through the statistical thing and it's a bit more than 80.

Peter is a great artist--I have been priviledged to see him perform a few times within the last few years. He's amazing on stage, because his material can be somber, and he'll just rock out. He's also well-known for creating songs onstage, much to the pleasure (and embarassment) of those watching. However...this has got to be my LEAST favorite album of his; some of the songs are great, but it just doesn't hang together well, and the production is too much and overwhelms the songs in some cases. Try any Himmelvaults cd (especially #2) or his last two albums, Unstoppable Forces or Imperfect World. Peter's website: www.peterhimmelman.com
How boring is this?

It's about time we heard some Himmelman ... he's truly underappreciated. He's also hilarious in concert, if you ever have a chance to see him.
Agreed! I have heard that he has great audience interaction, and is very quick-witted.

Another great Minnesota homeboy... :D

Almost exactly like EC on sort of an average day.
Started like the Beatles at their boringest . . . but then became amazingly more progressive for a bit! Then back down to the dulldrums . . .

If I remember correctly, Peter Himmelman had an MTV hit way back when MTV was cool. But I can't for the life of me recall the name of that song. This is nice, however.
Was it Woman with the Strength of 10,000 Men you were thinking of, maybe?
"Waning Moon" is one of my all-time favorite songs.
Me likie! :D

Play more from Synesthesia - still my favorite of his after all these years. <-o<
Some brief moments of interest spattered throughout, but overall, pretty boring. (ABTW, Is this Elvis Costello or Tom Petty singing?)
NEVER heard of this artist. Again, RP succeeds in surprising me! This guy sounds pretty cool! A bit like Petty. Just a bit. Thanx RP
