I'm a fan of the Beta Band and a major fan of Harry Nilsson - who wrote and covered the song. To borrow a phrase...this cover is a disaster.
Fans of the Beta Band know that this song is widely considered a disaster. I have to agree. to msully7 &el_stoo's point - i might agree that we don't hear enough "other" music here - it's mostly white-bread pop & indie (which I happen to like). BUT just because someone dismisses this song doesn't mean that they are closed-minded or that they hate a whole genre of music, it just means that they don't like this song.
i\'m surprised to see how little diversity or tolerance people on here have. first off, hip hop IS music, it takes talent to do it. anyone who says otherwise, here\'s the mic, let\'s hear you flow. second, for some REAL hip hop (not that bling blinging MTV rap crap) check out The Roots (a band that writes all their songs and plays all their instruments), Jurassic 5, De La Soul, Mos Def, Dilated Peoples, Digable Planets, Dr. Octagon, Deltron 3030, Del The Funky Homosapien (the guy who raps for the Gorillaz), early Kool Keith, Wu-Tang Clan (these guys are bloody talented), and of course, 3 of the most obvious and essential hip hop groups, the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, and Public Enemy.
Complete and utter Tripe!
White dog poo!
While I don\'t like the song, I want to encourage Bill to continue adding occaisional hip-hop, trip-hop and rap to the mix - keeps it interesting!
..woke me up....made me laugh.... very unexpected

Fuse? sounds more like a hack, run-of-the-mill hip-hop trying to trade in on nostalgia. Not really satisfying as either.
Wow! I almost yacked just then. Gave it a 2.
