Hey now sister won't you come and bless my soul
I been along time comin down the mountainside
You see I fell from a spaceship I was taken for a little ride
And I'd very much like to fall in love with you
If you would if you would I'd like to know
will you think of me when I'm gone?

Sister live a long time I don't want to fight with you
See my head's in a vice and I don't know who I am anymore
And when I wake in the morning and I look through my window
I see sun skies sand sea would you fill your heart with me
If you would, I'd like to know
will you think of me when I'm gone?

Hey, anyone remember the Alpha band?
after a few slow songs....when Bill is playing a depressing line up, my boyfriend and I joke that Bill must be bi-polar and/or is hitting the scotch in his california studio.  This playlist is such a time when I wonder, Bill? Are you okay?
Sort of a dumbed waaaaay down version of Porcupine Tree ....
Right... I was a little "gone" indeed!

Or a Tuesday morning...following a long weekend!

Y'all do know that Alan Parsons was the engineer on Dark Side Of The Moon, right? All this "it sounds like Pink Floyd" or "it sounds like Alan Parsons" is moot. It sounds like both of them.
But particularly Alan Parsons Project because the breathy vocals sound so much like Eric Woolfson, who sang many of APP's songs.
actually one of my favorite albums... the whole thing just flows very well together, and just has a great atmosphere/aura to it all. 'tis quite the shame that they broke up. that being said... i'm royally peeved that i was on a work call when this song came on! more Beta Band Bill!!
I love these guys, good to hear 'em. I don't think of pink but most of their other big songs don't sound quite like this.
this tune is spooky cool

It's kind of like post-Syd, pre-Dark Side Floyd. A bit like More.
Whoa, totally! Hadn't thought of that but very true, at least in the case of this tune.
finally something good this morning

I don't knmow why everybody says that this is like PF. It is so very not! And not any good either.

You'd think they'd be out of Beta by now. Maybe they are like ICQ? Forever a Beta ap. . .

Long live Pink Floyd and their crazy diamond friend. But these guys don't sound like 'em. Geezh! :p
Agree...there's more going on here...
I feel the prickles of Porcupine Tree

Actually, it reminds me more of Alan Parsons Project than PF. Can't remember which singer from the APP, but there's definitely a similar sound.
Agreed. And like most of what I heard from Alan Parsons Project, this doesn't do a whole heckuva lot for me.
Bill, that transition from the Devics Lie to me in this was sweet and silky smooth. You're a genius.
an old band whith greatful artists of making music
Good band, it's a shame they split up

Agreed, minus the "m".
Haven't heard these guys in a long time!
I like the Beta Band, but this is...
Gilmour.

wow! good track! kind of pink floydish... really good.
Dark and moody. I like it.
A friend of mine introduced me to this band..... I wish he hadn't. Incredibly annoying!!
What? I can't hear you. Speak up!
Just plain boring to me - something neither Alan Parsons nor Pink Floyd ever were.

Well stated. I dig it as well.

Well, everybody else is wrong, I am right and the answer is The Alan Parsons Project :)
Nice catch!
Reminds me a bit of earlier Genesis! Particularly the interlocking guitar parts in the hook. Oh yes, it does also remind me of early Floyd - maybe what they would have sounded like if Syd had managed to dry out from all the drugs.

That's exactly who I was trying to recall!!

Anyway, the song on the released soundtrack is "Dry the Rain" and a good song it is, but NOT the song they play in the store in the film.
Yup, it is. When he plays it, though, it cuts right into the middle-to-the-end of the song.

Maybe you Beta Band fans can help me out a little. In the film, High Fidelity, Rob plays a song by the Beta Band "I will now sell five copies of the new EP from the Beta Band".... Anyway, the song on the released soundtrack is "Dry the Rain" and a good song it is, but NOT the song they play in the store in the film. So I was hoping you could tell me the name of the song in the actual scene and what album it's on. Thank you. p.s. I'm going to feel stupid if it turns out to be THIS song, because I was not at my desk when it played, I just saw it in the playlist.
dunno, i really thought it was dry the rain...

yay Beta Band! How about \"Dry The Rain?\"
I liked it - I\'ll remember this song as the Pink Parsons Project!

I usually dig Beta Band, but this is too Pink Floydish for me, and I don\'t care so much for PF.
I gave this an \"8\" a while back. Finally picked up the disc and give the whole thing an \"8\". Great stuff.
does anyone else think the singer sounds like Paul McCartney?
this sounds like Alan Parsons project to me I like it ;)
This sounds more like Badly Drawn Boy than the Pinksters me thinks. Just MHO. I like this a lot.
I won\'t be missing this tune when it\'s gone! :(
Just back from seeing these guys tonight. Thankfully this Pink Floyd type dirge was disposed of early and they then got better and better. (I only rated this 2 - virtually everything else they do would have got a 6 or 7. C'mon Bill - there's so much Floyd played here already, when a band has better stuff why play a Floyd-a-like?)
I have no problems with \"slow\" tunes like this that take me deep into inner space :D Another great one, Bill!
