Gaily bedight, a gallant knight
In sunshine and in shadow
All journey long, singing a song
In search of Eldorado.

But he grew old this knight so bold
And o'er his heart a shadow
Fell as he found no spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.

Over the mountains of the moon
Down the valley of the shadow
Ride boldly ride, the shade replied
If you seek for Eldorado.

And as his strength failed him at length
He met a pilgrim shadow
'Shadow' - said he - 'Where can it be'
'This land of Eldorado?'

Over the mountains of the moon
Down the valley of the shadow
Ride boldly ride, the shade replied
If you seek for Eldorado.

I had a book of illustrated Poe Verse in middle school that I haven't seen since I move out of my Parent's house in 2001.

Imagine my shock when Donovan starts singing, and I'm suddenly writing the lyrics from memory before he sings them. XD

A lovely treatment of a tragic, but brilliant poet's work. <3
This melodramatic performance makes sense for the 1960s but ...
Donovan was part of my late 60's, nuff said!
Another very interesting musician. So much music that we have discovered and explored due to RP, thanks mates!
Sorry.....not sorry.....
