Well I believe there's something watching over you
They're watching every single thing you say
And when you die they'll set you down and take you through
You'll realise one day

The grass is always greener on the other side
The neighbour's got a new car that you wanna drive
And when time is running out you wanna stay alive
We all live under the same sky
We all will live we all will die
There is no wrong there is no right
The circle only has one side, side, side

We all try hard to live our lives in harmony
For fear of falling swiftly overboard
But life is both a major and minor key
Just open up the chord

But the grass is always greener on the other side
The neighbour's got a new car that you wanna drive
And when time is running out you wanna stay alive
We all live under the same sky
We all will live we all will die
There is no wrong there is no right
The circle only has one side, side, side, side

But the grass is always greener on the other side
The neighbour's got a new car that you wanna drive
And when time is running out you wanna stay alive

And when time is running out you wanna stay alive

Perhaps we should be grateful you're not a singer songwriter we listen to on RP.

What is wrong with you people?  Are you just angry at life in general? Hasn't quite worked out the way you'd planned?

Nothing wrong with this song. Travis has their own sound, a sound which is very accessible, well produced and easy on the ears.

But if we listen to many of you posters, 80% of what's played here is utter shit.

Agreed.  Besides, it has the advantage of being a decent song.

times 2. on the other hand, radiohead, jack white, robert fripp, any bad 80's music gets consistent high ratings. travis were good in their time. but that's why we listen to RP, right? we get to hear popular music from all eras.

i have to agree here with strat: bill is a genius. if you like your own playlists or 10 ten stations more go for it.

It's dreadful pap made purely so A&R men can keep themselves in coke and strippers. Inexplicably successful here and then for some reason taken up over there. Thankfully they have disappeared off the music scene to make room for bands that actually have something worthwhile to contribute.

Love Travis... don't know much about them. They still together? Making any new music?

I guess a circle has either zero sides or infinite sides, depending on who you ask, but not one.

Maybe the main idea of the song is that you can not differentiate between mine and yours in terms of eternity.

A very well written and produced tune and album.    a generous 9.

Never again.  {#Skull}
I have always liked Travis, some very good tunes, this one included, especially the hidden track on the album " the one with the story of some drunken altercation and blue lights"  its a very good listen, full of emotion.

Travis' production is actually very complicated and needs to be appreciated using a powerful amplifier and sensitive, large speakers.
This just landed via PSD and I'm perfectly satisfied. Can't understand all the hate. This is the kind of song I would be delighted to have written.

Travis are the new Rembrandts.

And I say that even as a fan of Travis...

I used to really like Travis, and this song, but I have to agree this just sounds a bit weak now. I'd also say that this song in particular is the epitome of an FM-friendly single - completely inoffensive and with an easy to remember, sing-along chorus, but also rather forgettable.
Last time I listened to this was back in high school, about 7-8 years ago. Not that bad, but not that good either. Deserves a... 5, maybe?

I don't get it... This doesn't sound anything like Cake, and isn't bad.

Horrible!

I love Travis. They're one of my favourite bands!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE - RP getting me through the wrapping, thanks B&R!

my take on  _1's thought is while some songs stand the test of time, others do not.  This is one of them.

Not sure why, but I always get irritated by this band, they just seem really mediocre to me ... sorry!
absolutely one of my favourite songs.
Always like to hear this song and this group
I like this song a lot and I just found out that the singer will be in town tonight on a solo tour.
wow, all of bill's choices are so contemplative today. i love it.

As for the lyrics:

I think it's a plea for harmony.  They are saying we are all in this circle of life together and we shouldn't take sides against each other, etc.

I find this is common to many Travis songs. I try not to listen to the lyrics too closely, and just to pay attention to the voice and the music. The words ruin it for me if I start thinking of them.

That's very true. I was listening to the Singles CD on an extended drive yesterday afternoon. I had the sound down low and it was just about perfect...

I also agree with some of the other posters that Travis makes excellent "comfort music."
It is songs as bad as this that make me want to go . Pretty unbearable trash.

Maybe he's actually thinking of a Moebius strip? Anyway, the lyrics make me feel good. I give it a one-sided 8.

cannot compute "switch stations."
Not a bad song... but a crappy mix.

Very mediocre, IMO. Almost ridiculously trite lyrics.

I am really tired of this song.

I've mostly enjoyed the last two Travis albums, but some of their lyrics make me cringe. They're very much like phrases taken out of a high school journal, very trite and cliche.

Y\'know, it\'s one of those things... I was working- not really listening- but I really had to know who sung that song- the tune stuck in my head. I just downoaded it from Limewire... hope I still like it once i listen to it! ;)
Not bad.. Nothing spectacular.
Cool video...it\'s the whole xfiles, flying saucer thing...
Pretty Boring
I don\'t know why, but I like this song.
Sort of Brit-Pop Crowded House?
