The Clash is a pretty good band with a few catchy tunes, nothing more, nothing less.....and this is one of them. 7

Yeah, maybe one of the only 10 tracks of the whole eighties which really haven't survived modernity, perhaps due to the feeble production (never could get used to the sound of that saturated mike at the very end).
Far from their best songs.

Edit: Joe Strummer was a genius however who really found himself musically with the Mescaleros later in life; HE is an icon!

I love the Clash, but I have always hated this song.
Even worse, it gets stuck in my head so badly that I start humming it all day and want to shoot myself in the face.
I have never given as many low ratings to songs than I have today! And I'm having a good day!
This sounds even more pedantic following the richness of the Nick Cave tune. (Though I suppose that would be true following most anything else as well.)
I'll give it "important for its time" - that's the highest compliment it deserves.

this gem has only a rating of 6.7, and drek like U2's "All I Want is You" is rated over an 8? There is no justice. 
I was a huge Clash fan from their first album until Combat Rock. It just seemed too commercial to me. I still miss Joe Strummer though =<
