I would risk the serpent's bite
I would dance around with seven
I would kiss the diamond back
If I knew it would get me to heaven

'Cause I want to get right with God
Yes, you know you got to get right with God

I would burn the soles of my feet
Burn the palms of both my hands
If I could learn and be complete
If I could walk righteously again

I would sleep on a bed of nails
'Till my back was torn and bleeding
In the deep darkness of Hell
The Damascus of my meeting

I asked God about his plan
To save us all from Satan's slaughter
If I give up one of my lambs
Will you take me as one of your daughters?

How's about that most folks should focus on getting right with themselves first...then maybe with those that love us...and then if you have a moment or two leftover, you can worry about the boggieman in the sky...

we will ALL  see the light one day, God has promised us that
What exactly is God, and why should we get right with it?
Bo Diddley lives on...
What lamb is she proposing to give up?

That is an absurd statement. I bet you think it's deep. It isn't, it is stupid.
She has a great ear for other musicians.

Don't know who  exactly is playing slide on this, but she's worked with a cat named Bo Ramsey (who also plays with Greg Brown, another Iowa boy), who plays great slide.

You see...it's all related.  It's all circular.
First time hearing this.
Would like to have heard a Johnny Cash version too!

We need more women and guitars.
Great song  to dance to, especially when you get those arms way up there and get them swinging side to side.  I'm an agnostic, but I think we can all agree that this universe, including this tiny spec we live on, is some kind of wonderful.

What about getting right with Jesus?

He's a cool cat.
Um, no.
Lucinda never disappoints.  GREAT tune.

I think you're right because I have this song somewhere and I wouldn't have bought it unless I heard it here. LOVE THIS and had completely forgotten about it until now.
