I never would have purchased the three of four Doves CD's I have now if I didn't do the same thing. Travis, My Morning Jacket, Pete Yorn, GY!BE, Jose Gonzalez, Iron and Wine, etc.. All legally purchased after downloading the CD first.

At least I've found Radio Paradise to aid my discovery of new music for my collection!

Agree!

You know, I didn't want to look, because if it WAS FF, it's pretty weak. Now that I know it's not them, I'm okay with it because I don't know this band from Adam and will give them a 6.

i use to always get these guys confused with swervedriver... they sound so similar, especially swervedriver's Mescal head.

Discovered (ahem) this song on Napster way back when...and eventually bought all their CDs. Why'd they have to mess with Napster? You can't convince me it did not help CD sales. I discovered a whole lot of artists through the old Napster and ended up buying CDs I never would have otherwise. Oh, the good ol' days!

It might be lite, but I like it.

I use a Russian download site called allofmp3.com Its morally offensive in some ways-they are ripping off artists but it allows me to "test drive" an album and if I like it, I usually go out and buy it. But it prevents me from purchasing albums for one song I like to find most of the album is crap. They're download rate is pretty cheap. Typical album is about 2 dollars and they do have all of porcupine tree's albums (even the one's that are out of print) which is where I initally discovered them. Just a thought.

Sigh. Only in the cloudy UK would a band sing about catching the sun before its gone. I keep trying to like the Doves, but it's not working for me.
Um, could be a metaphor...

I do the same thing, but now, free songs help expose artist, and if I like them I buy the CD, but on the other hand it keeps me from having to buy crap just for one song.

nice song, but it sounds overmodulated. If I had meters, I'd expect them to be pinning!

Never more! Never more! This is a better Coldplay, but still not worth more than 3, where Coldplay, at their best, don't get more than 1, and that is overrated.
Again, Again!

I thought this was a Foo Fighters song I missed. Haha. I guess bands don't need to be original anymore.
Scroll down to Nov. 15, and you'll see neither do posters...

If "oldplay" was really really good, this is what they would sound like... I wouldn't tryyyy to fix them...
Weird though...I gave "Snowden" a 1. Go figure!

I shuffled "Some Cities" together with some stuff by another band whose name rhymes with "oldplay" Not indistinguishable, but runs together well. One of my favorite RP bands!!

Sweet! Saw these dudes in Austin in September, Very, Very cool! Their remake of of King Crimson's "Moonchild" is fantastic.
I suffered temporary hearing loss after seeing them in concert when this CD came out... Smokin tune...

YES! Was thinking about that the other days when I was listening to "Some Cities".... great comparison!
I quite like the Doves, but they still remind me of the Jam.
I learned the truth at seventeen...
Did my speakers just go to crap? I don't think so, so this is probably the effect of a very bad recording or what my otherwise be good music.

Agreed, I thought it was new Foofighters! My bad.

Wait -- hearing this again, and I DO know these guys...I downloaded "Black & White Town" after hearing it on RP! I must like them more than I never knew...

Saw these guys in concert - "Catch the Sun" rocked the house live!

With all the Doves tracks on RP it's hard to believe that "Catch the Sun" is just being added to the playlist. Good thing cause it's my favorite track on Lost Souls.
Agreed! this whole disc gets me a movin!
