They look down
At the ground,
Missing.
But I never go in now.

I'm looking at the Big Sky.
I'm looking at the Big Sky now.
I'm looking at the Big Sky.
You never really understood me.
You never really tried.

That cloud, that cloud--
Looks like Ireland.
C'mon and blow it a kiss now,
But quick,

'Cause it's changing in the Big Sky,
It's changing in the Big Sky now.
We're looking at the Big Sky.
You never understood me.
You never really tried.

This cloud, this cloud--
Says "Noah,
C'mon and build me an Ark."
And if you're coming, jump,
'Cause

We're leaving with the Big Sky.
We're leaving with the Big Sky.
And we pause for the jets--
hup! hup!--in the Big Sky!

You want my reply?
What was the question?
I was looking at the Big Sky.

Tell 'em, sisters!

"Rolling over like a great big cloud,
Walking out in the Big Sky!
Rolling over like a great big cloud,
Walking out in the Big Sky!"

I love her longer mix of this too
Absolutely awful.
Not my favourite Kate Bush song but I still like it.

Love the album.

Not sure you listen very often.... She's ALWAYS on....
Judging from some of the sadly misguided comments below it seems Kate (and Tori) should move to New York city... after all, as Elbow note, "it's the modern Rome, where folks are nice to Yoko". I've always been deeply indebted to my college girlfriend who introduced me to Kate Bush back in 1980 as she was just hitting her stride. Imaginative and deeply intelligent lyrics, kicking MOR girl singers to the pavement with her thrilling vocal stylings, and ethereally sexy to boot. Still holds up decades later. Lovely stuff; to the haters *pffft*.
11!
Want to hear more kate bush
As we say in Scotland, 'Pure, dead, brilliant!!' 😍

Kate's from the UK, where pelting it with pills isn't always the first thought.

....

It's the fact that she's such a groundbreaking technician that turns me on most about her, in a broad field of factors. ;)

Agree 100%.
Hearing this song makes me think that somebody should forcibly administer a couple hundred milligrams of chlorpromazine to Ms. Bush.  She's clearly suffering a psychotic break.
Never did see Kates Bush live...too bad.
I read the - obviously mostly sincere, not gratuitiously hateful - dislike people are expressing below ("worst song ever played on RP" disqualifying itself nicely, quite on its own, including "worst" and "ever" and "RP", which just can't be together in one sentence, universal law), even by people who like her.

This admittedly is making me feel a bit lonely and sad. The thought that everyone doesn't feel what I feel about it. I know it's normal, we're all different. That doesn't make it easy to deal with, I'm in one of those moods.

But in no way does it change my love and gratitude for the song nor for Ms. Bush and her work in general.
Love this album. Still holds up well after 30 years.
Brilliance.

<pause for the jet>

She says she got a little drunk to add the vocals on this.
<tell it sisters>
Utterly terrible...gives Torri a serious challenger for most abysmal song on RP (discounting Yoko’s obvious lead)

I find I can't PSD Kate Bush because I actually like hating her.

It's something like the irresistible urge to smell sour milk before throwing it away.

This song is a textbook example of sucko-barfo.
Hmmm!
The only, so so track on this lovely album.

Please stop playing this song ... it solely consists of a refrain that makes me want to kill myself! Later the song explodes however it does not stop ... it goes on and on and on and on ... please make it stop!

I'm a big fan of KB...but this just seems like fluff to me compared to her first two solo records.
giving me a headache

I can't believe it's 6.4. I just gave it a 1 and that was about 4 more than I would have liked to give it.

Simply awful.

Damn... sometimes you gotta wonder what the hell she or her producer were thinking?
Kate can sing!
How many octaves could she sing in when she was young?
This song just feels right. I feel so happy listening to it.

Everybody in my hotel room loves this song...

one of my very favorite songs by ANYone... {#Notworthy}

love it!

This is a great classic song that extols the virtues of the simple pleasures in life...  love it...

Yes, msymmes, I too remember the "spirit of radio" when it really was!  There was a lot of Kate Bush being played on CFNY - I think DJ Ted Woloshyn had a crush on her.  They played lots of great music on that station - so much so that I remember 80's music with a great deal of affection and nostalgia, unlike a lot of other people who probably didn't have the good luck to listen to CFNY.

On that note, thank gods for RP!

I said it on another Kate Bush song, but I'll say it again here:  The more I hear of Kate Bush's music, the more I love it! {#Meditate}

That's weird, I just went online to say I thought this was her worst song. . . . monotonous, random and grating.
Music is funny that way.

She and I could have babies now, provided she's willing.  Espcially since she's singing about one of my favorite ski areas ...

Recent rumors is that she'll release a new album this year...

One of the greatest compliments I ever received was that I resembled her in a pic {#Biggrin}

I don't expect everyone to embrace KB. But I really do admire her bold, unabashed originality as an artist.

Stevo, you are a cruel, cruel man. Funny, but cruel.

Actually for some reason I'm more willing to put up with this kind of hyper-goofy thrashing around from Kate Bush than similar stuff from Torey Amos. Maybe it's nostalgia. Kate was way hotter too, probably still is.

Too bad you can't see how inspired this song is. Oh, and generalizations such as yours (any song that repeats, etc...) are lame.

I agree.
I am a real fan of Kate Bush but...........
not this song
try "Cloudbusting" instead which is pure genious
this sounds like they are just practicing or warming up.   it's repetitive and pointless........

didley..die...didlley...die   Please stop this trash!
Lovw, love love the DRUMS on this one!
My arms are weaving up and down, swaying all around as I imagine looking up at The Big Sky. Did K.B. do drugs to get inspired? Just being silly. I love Kate's music and voice. Know she isn't for everyone and this isn't her best song, but hey folks this was a song from the 80's.

Make it stop!  Its horrible!  Please!

I'm looking at a big yawn. . .

{#Yawn}

Such a fab tune, marred by that dumb background vocal after the line about "looks like Ireland". Really, Kate? Diddly-da, diddly-da, diddly-da? Really?
The background vocals are even worse than the lead.

:) Makes up for working late tonight. Always feel like thrashing or step dancing with this song. Thanks RP!
PAUSE FOR THE JET!!! ...love that. Only kate bush would think of that.
thanks for this song. One of my all-time favorites. Love Kate Bush.
I love Kate Bush. I wish I loved this song, but I never have... she has better.
I was first introduced to Kate Bush during a music history class while I was attending Full Sail, a huge audio and film school in Orlando. We had (naturally) these big, fantastic sounding monitors in the classroom and the teacher put on the title track from 'The Dreaming'. It was mesmorizing. Strange, melodic, sometimes downright odd, inventive, passionate, dramatic. I was hooked.

Excuse me? Do I see people comparing Kate Bush to Tori Amos here? Come on guys, clean your ears and listen!! Tori may be as weird and as musically gifted as Kate, but Kate succeeds in distilling her ideas into compact songs that work, not this lengthy arty pseudo-classic piano stuff Tori has been giving us. Of course there are great songs by Tori as well but overall - they play in different leagues.

Wow, pretty bad stretch of music. . .I need something really *cool* very soon or else something very bad is going to happen. Like more of this.
Uma Thurman says that she is an acquired taste as well. I am rather blown over in the best way by both Kate Bush and Miss Uma.
