Living in the city, I've been abused
The jobs I keep, the people I meet
Don't do more than make me amused
Everywhere I turn now, just more bad news
So don't look now and don't ask how
We're gonna find our way back to the Animal Zoo

Oh no, something went wrong
Well you're much too fat and a little too long
Hey hey, you got too much to lose
Gotta find your way back to the Animal Zoo

Looking at my body, I'm slipping down
The air I breathe, the water I drink
Is se lling me short and turning me round
Everyone I see now on their way too
So don't look now and don't ask how
We're gonna find our way back to the Animal Zoo

Oh no, something went wrong
Well you're much too fat and a little too long
Hey hey, you got too much to lose
Gotta find your way back to the Animal Zoo

Thanks bill for a track that i have not heard before LLRP
Great album top to bottom.  Never a bad trip with this one.
Has a bit of a Phish flavour towards the ending. Cool track!

A major player in my formative years.
Very Deadly. I'm Grateful.
Check out the name of the album. And the cover.

Imagination was everywhere in 1970.
I only got into Spirit in 2018 having been vaguely aware of them before. Great band and this is the only place I hear them played. Thanks.

Same thought flashed here!

Better than 'Nature's Way', played before this 'Animal Zoo' just now, but that's not saying much at all. {#Beat}
Two Spirit songs in a row; I am in heaven, or should I say paradise?

I have 3 copies of this album on vinyl and 2 on CD
Sure lifts the spirit on a Monday!
Two Spirits back to back.  Like it, RP.

No, when you cough, they don't drop.

Still trying to parse this.
Spirit is better Dead than the Dead.
Brings back great memories of the Pittsburgh boys singing in Gov't Center for pennies in 1977.  Ah yes...the salad days of a 70's band in Boston - 3 part harmony & playing covers and original tunes like no one else at the time...
What fun! Haven't head this old favorite for decades!
I once saw Randy California play the guitar strings with his teeth.  He seemed to enjoy it, almost too much.  But, boy was that a great show.
Leftism is a religion.
Woohoo! Spirit double shot.
An album still ahead of its time
Every time I hear this song I wonder...." Why doesn't RP play more Phish?"
Alt j must have listened to this song before they wrote "left hand free".
2 Spirit songs in a row = joy inexpressible.
Very coool - I've got two Spirit posters hanging here in my office - one from the Whisky a go go and another from the Avalon Ballroom in San Fran.

Needs more traffic noises.
This is begging for Phish to cover.

Nice segue from the barnyard closing of "Good Morning Good Morning" to this...

Not sure what "best forgettable" means.

Lots of incarnations of this band.

Nobody wanted to be Captain Obvious, I guess.
This is a tune that you'd never hear anywhere but here. Thanks, Bill.
Nicely done Bill
That's the Spirit!
One of the nicest segues I know: the car sputters along, carrying us to the Animal Zoo.
Ah ah hah, aa nana nah!  Ah ah hah, aa nana nah!!!   Mr Mr Skin at some point would be way cool

Indeed.  Great one.  I like other songs on it better than this one, but it is all good.

Poor little guy.
{#Jump}  a twofer !
Nice to hear Spirit's Nature's Way followed up by Animal Zoo just like on the album to hear the seamless transition from one song to the next.
This is one of the most influential albums in rock history.  Thanks for playing!

Gosh I rather like this. Funny how the warmth of those 70's production values really comes through. I'm so over the digital revolution, perhaps I'm turning into a luddite in my old age?

Is that a cough drop?
While I get "Animal Zoo" following Danny Michel's "Feather, Fur and Fin," I think that "Nature's Way" would have been even more poignant. Just sayin', Bill.
Talking about the human race I opine
its been weigh too long since I have had back to back spirit
wow, been a real long time since I heard Spirit; 19 when this came out.  Nature's Way, like Rachel Carson, early attempts to tell us what is now too late to fix.
And Jay Ferguson split this up to form....Jo Jo Gunn?  What was he thinking?  This was like the Beatles putting out Abbey Road and folding or Genesis splitting after Lamb Lies Down.  Just when a band is at its creative zenith, poof...
They will always be albums to me.

Randy California sounds a lot like Burton Cummings, or visa versa. Spirit never received the recognition for their
innovation in instrumentation (Page ripped California off) or even the quality of their music. This album should be considered one of the top 10 cut during the 60/70's era.  Had they stuck together and continued writing/playing they would most likely have the recognition groups like U2, The Dead, and even Zep have attained. But then again, you know about opinions......

The desert contingency somewhat agrees.... mostly...mainly....kinda....ok, not really, but what a concept.

2 consecutive (on the album) songs...
Hearing a little influence on Phish perhaps.....?
I assume that the two Spirit songs are in tribute to Ed Cassidy's 88th birthday the other day. The band was, and still is to this day, a major influence in rock and roll.
Like finding a long lost friend.

Play that tambourine!

Good fun, thanks for playing the sequence.

a B- song on an A+ album... funny though, I'd be hard pressed to decide which ias the best song.  One of those classic "sum is greater than the total of its parts" situations.  Echoes of this album last for decades.

The Dead or the Fugs!

Spirit is a band that sounds deeply entrenched in its era. As time goes by, I see them further in the glow of receding tail lights. Still, I liked hearing 2 songs from the same album.

That's because of what a Palaeontologist might call a "mising link": it's the classical Bo-Diddley-groove.

Very important band for me.

R.I.P. Randy California and John Locke

hmmmmm, that gets me to wondering of there is any connection with the John Lock character on the Lost T.V. show.

Mr. Skin indeed...
Memories! College daze! Had to play it all the way through!

Play Mr. Skin!

A rare double play from RP! The Spirit must have moved Bill. {#Yes}
Thank you for the double-shot of Spirit, Bill.  You're the Randy California of internet radio!
Nice to hear this right after Nature's Way...
A Spirit two-fer... this is better!

Uploaded and unfortunately, rejected.  {#Sad}

Oh, this set will not let me go to bed; too much good stuff.  This is such a great album that has held up well over all these many years!!

A GREAT band that never fully got it's due.  This tune would be commercially viable today — as would several others from 12 Dreams — and I really wonder why they didn't achieve the big-time.

This version doesn't have the pops and hiss that my LP contains.  I kind of miss 'em.
it's been a least 30 years since i've heard this. i wore that LP thin.
Still holds up today!
apparently  you R brain dead....this is classic awesome stuff.........maybe you have never been outside your house.....MIC.............KEY................Mouse,,,.;'/''3i//'<
