When the night is closing
Eyes are running wild
When I hear you humming
All night long

The sign I see it
Tell me am I true
All I need from you is
All I see

This city's paved with cold
Playboys buying fun
Seems there is no hunter left
Without his hunting gun

Can you feel the light?
The air is wild open
Oh, you see the light it's coming through
It's there in the distance
Always offered to me
Always coming over a hill

Oh, your see-saw smile
Lasts me all night long
Like a siren's curl
When the night is long

Now, come hold my hand
No bad vibe hearts
Hold my hand, you know
This journey could be long

Yeah, the seasons come in
All the nights are woven
All the nights, we'll see them through
Ah, no hundred men now
Would dare cut into us
We'll go on and see it through

(Belle)
(Une rose qui a joue son role)
(Mon Miroir)
(Mon clef d'or)
(Mon cheval)
(Et mon gant sont les cinq secrets de ma puissance)
Now, hold my hand
No bad vibe hearts
(Je voulais livrer)
(Il vous suffira de mettre ce gant)
(A votre main droite)
(Il vous transportera ou vous desirez l'etre)

When the night has come in
Your eyes are running wild
Then I hear you humming
All night long

Yeah, the sign I see it
Yeah, the times I see it
All I need to know from you
Is all I see

Can you feel the light?
The air is wild, open
Oh you see the light
It's coming through
It's there in the distance
Always offered to me
Always coming over a hill
Yeah, the seasons come in
All the nights are woven
All the nights, we'll see them through
Ah, no hundred men now
Would dare cut into us
We'll go on and see it through

But thanks for making my payment, lol.

What an incredible voice!!!
truly great tune
every time i see the album cover i can't unsee Macaulay Culkin, as another commenter mentioned prior.

regardless, i love this song. i was late getting introduced to his music - probably mid 90s when someone turned me on to him. hearing this takes me back to then every time.

He is home alone all night long...Thats why
I love, love this song, I sing along as loud as I can lol

I suspect Peter stuck to his artistic vision too much to be top 40 commercially successful. On the other hand, he was popular enough that he got to actually do what he wanted to do. I'm guessing this is a very rewarding "sweet spot" for an artist to be in.

This deserved to be bumped up.

Peter... amazingly good to hear him here!

"Eyes are running wild" -- groan, lol. Yeah.

The melodies were always good but The Peter's lyrics always tended to be 3rd-string, unfortunately.

"Can you feel the light" ?

Can you 'Smell the glove' ? lol.
Tedious.

I like Bauhous, Dali's Car, and a good bit of Murphy's other stuff, but this song would gag a maggot.

I can think of 3,739,014 songs I'd rather hear than this one.
What a voice
Great song, definitely better than what its rated at, minimum 8 from me.
Sounds a lot like the Canadian band Chalk Circle

Shoulda been a Tech student ... although the 40 Watt rocks.
I'd give every last Peter Murphy song a 10 I'm such a hardcore fan (and hope he's all recovered from that recent heart episode in NYC) but for the fact that, as a young impressionable person under his music-spell, one expected all romantic encounters (when actually young and impressionable) to be just like this song. Then you realize you're out at, for example, the 40 Watt Club in Athens GA with some UGA ag major who thinks that Darius Rucker is everything.

Why is Macaulay Culkin on the album cover?
So 1988 and great 80's genre.
Yes, the season is turning. Today.
Awesome Peter!
Great song, great album...a true original.
Outstanding song imo (Halloween's coming, we'll likely hear Bauhaus's Bela Lugosi's Dead - Yay : )
{#Daisy}If PM's "Indigo Eyes" and "Dragnet Drag" could be added, that would be wonderful...

Just saw PM this last month, so good. Have been fan since Bauhaus. Met a twenty something that was introduced to him through that NIN show and she is now an uber fan. So fun to see a newbe falling for something so dear in ones heart from my own "child hood" Thank you Bill!

Still from Cocteau's "Beauty and the Beast"

Surely this song warrants a rating greater than a 6.6!!  And no, good people, I am not calling any of you Shirley (unless that is your actual name)!! {#Laughing}

Amazing song. Incredible album, next to Deep. Always wanted to hear more Peter Murphy, especially his new stuff. Great video too. Very noir with shoutouts to Cocteau.

He did not.  Love and Rockets is a alternative comic series by the Hernandez brothers and a band formed out of the remains of Bauhaus by Daniel Ash and David J.
Thank God for that, almost had to use the PSD button. Thought it was going to be Tracy Chapman.

"Der Kommisar" works just fine on its own.
Peter Murphy, I now need to see bela lugosi's dead on youtube again, sums up the extraordinary 80's vibe and pulse I feel, just hearing his name man.
That portrait sketch is cool too
(also, super retch during that paul mccartney drivel RP just played, this helped clear the air after that crap, gracias)

Well put and agreed!

Any song played after that horrible Tom Waits crap should get a 10 just by comparison.

His voice makes this song.
Best of the 1980's. Got that arty, intellectual zing.

You're misinformed. First, Peter Murphy was in Bauhaus, one of the most influential expiremental alternative bands ever, and not big hair. Yes, on occasion they were theatrical and sported some odd hairdos but that was not at all what they were all about, and cannot be defined as one of the stereotypical mindless big hair bands of the '80's. Second, his solo stuff, he's mostly sporting stylish shorter hair and it's alternative rock songwriting, nothing to do with Flock of Seagulls or Poison or any kind of big hair bands of the '80's. If anything, his history is the antithesis of big hair bands— substance and musical exploration within a pop format.

Ok, you now can return to hating this music, documentary over, and I will continue to enjoy it and his spectacular career.

Ho hum .. another Peter Murphy song .. I'd really like to say "it all sounds the same after Bauhaus" .. which it does .. but he's got such a fabulous voice that I can't complain at all.

Just something I really like about Peter Murphy's voice.  Maybe not fantastic, but a very, very nice tone and lyrics that are actually quite decent.

This is pretty awful. Sounds like he's trying to be like the Fixx.

The music (not the voice) really reminds of some classic 'Killing Joke'-songs.... Guess I'm alone with this, eh?

I've always liked the Peter Murphy sound. This one sounds a bit like an attempt to write a top ten moneymaker though. It's a bit watered down. I'm posting a 6.
God I love this man's voice
And to think he fronted Bauhaus before moving on to his solo work. This is so far removed from Bela Lugosi's Dead. I've always like his work in both bands.

The themes are similar, though Mick's singing about wet dreams. The energy level is quite contrasting.

Wiki says he was the model in the UK version, not the US version of which we are all thinking. So you are safe - he *is* as follicularly-challenged as you thought. Plus he lives in Turkey. "Peter Murphy was the model for Maxell's UK "Blown Away Guy" ad campaign which ran in the 1980s, with its tagline of "Sentence your cassette to life." Despite the rumor, he's not the younger model in the omnipresent US edition of the campaign."

I've had the poster shown below for years and just today sent it out to be framed for our listening room. It's pretty big (about 3'X6') and should add an intersting touch to the room. I thought this old Maxell commercial was long forgotten..

Its not - Bella Lugosi's Dead But its his best album (I think its from about 1992) Bauhaus was an amazing band that produced some very important music and fashion that has carried over today.
