Color of the sky as far as I can see is coal grey.
Lift my head from the pillow and then fall again.
Shiver in my bones, just thinking about the weather.
Quiver in my lip as if I might cry.

Well by the force of will my lungs are filled and so I breathe.
Lately it seems this big bed is where I never leave.
Shiver in my bones, just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my voice as I cry,

What a cold and a rainy day.
Where on earth is the sun hid away?

Hear the sound of a noon bell chime.
Well I'm far behind.
You've put in 'bout half a day
while here I lie
With a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my voice as if I might cry,

What a cold and rainy day.
Where on earth is the sun hid away?

Do I need someone here to scold me
or do I need someone who'll grab and pull me out of four poster dull torpor pulling downward.
For it is such a long time since my better days.
I say my prayers nightly this will pass away.

The color of the sky is grey as I can see through the blinds.
Lift my head from the pillow and then fall again
Shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my voice as if I might cry,

A cold and a rainy day.
Where on earth is the sun hid away?
A cold and a rainy day I shiver, quiver, and try to wake.

I'd be quite happy to never hear this song again.
Love this tune but kinda wish she quit while she was ahead

Natalie Merchant is a great singer, and became one after this album.  I dont want to be down on this song or her, but I saw her on the tour for this album and she was better that this song and became even better later.  Truly one of the greats of our time, just dont judge by this recording.

I'm a NM fan, but in my humble opinion based on owning two of the band's albums, her vocal range is limited, so while she has a nice voice, it's not a great voice. John Farnham has a great voice, as does Linda Ronstadt. I keep wanting to hear her reach a new level to finish a song or a verse, but it never comes.

Bill and Rebecca, we must meet one day. We like all the same music! Thank you and keep up the great work.

My only criticism of Natalie Merchant is her lack of range - she can sing a greater range, but for some reason, writes songs that don't use it.

Natalie Merchant.

Oh yeah
Great guitar solo...one of many on this record—-not flashy, not long, just tasteful.

Nah, everyone from Jamestown, N.Y. sounds like that, even Lucille Ball.

Yep, typical WNY accent.

Insufferable Merchant. And she seems to have an affected accent on this song.

Looks like this is one of it's first plays, Bill has mentioned this bug a couple times before, hopefully he can fix it before it goes on rotation.

There was nothing but silence this turn at play.
Must be the sound of silent falling snow?

How's that for weather?
