I think the previous poster was referring to a stylistic similarity. The song is a Kottke original & as far as I know Zappa never covered it (it came out just a couple of years before his death).

2 out of 3—music, lyrics, voice—is a pass.

His voice undeniably has a... certain... rough edge to it, but it's a voice that reminds me of William Burroughs'—and that, delivering deadpan humour, redeems the song immensely.
