Lyrics:

Feel the fan ease the heat
Stare into it's whirring beat
Round and round me down to sleep
Drifting off this came to me

When you cry my wounded one
There's a rain pouring down
Soaking deep a barren field
Springing life from the ground

There is more within the turning of our deeds
Like a wheel going faster than we see

When you sigh my lonesome one
A second wind is kicking in
Sweeping across the tides
Pushing sails to a coast again

There is more within the turning of our deeds
Like a wheel going faster than we see

Turning wheel turn, turn
Turning wheel turn, turn

A great divide is weaving through
All our stories told in two
Listen as we brave the edge
Where truth and myth share a common thread

When you smile my joyful one
Another sun in another sky
Shedding light on things to come
Lifting up all it finds

There is more within the turning of our deeds
Like a wheel going faster than we see
There is more within the turning of our deeds
Like a wheel going faster than we see

Turning wheel turn, turn
Turning wheel turn, turn
Turning wheel turn, turn
Turning wheel turn, turn

Feel the fan ease the heat
Stare into it's whirring beat
Round and round me down to sleep
Drifting off this came to me

wow, this song is awful - it wouldn't be so bad if it were released in 1985, instead of 1995

I Agree completely!

Is it really "the worst song on RP'?? Now, c'mon, maybe it does sound like Kenny Loggins, but it's not THAT bad. Plus Sonny's one hell of a nice guy and a fantastic geetar player. I like this tune.

Oh those whacky '80s! Funny how you think his dreck would have been acceptable from that decade.
Great live performer!
cruel to follow Van Morrison with this...

This song was cut from the Footloose soundtrack at the last minute--too bad, really.

Sonny is greatest slide player since Duane Allman. He is a frequent guest on a wide range of other artists CDs, and they are all worth seeking out.
Glad someone else recognizes what a PHENOMENAL slide player he is. I can definitely get past the vocals and the production values because his guitar pickin' SIZZLES.

I agree. Kenny Loggins... and that's not a good thing IMO.
Yep, perfect comparison. And nope, that's NOT good.
Not only that hollow Christian-rock sound, but uncomfortably close to the REO Speedwagon school of banal arena-rock. Ick. Little self-indulgent on the guitar too. Guess he's really trying to go commercial. To each his own....
Sonny kicks That git-tar is phe-freakin-nominal! Scorching!
Junk. Landreth needs to get a job selling shoes. Pls strike this from the playlist ASAP.
For a minute I thought my stream had been hijacked by a Christian-rock station or something. It’s got that “hollow” sound to it (thanks, Platypus—that’s the perfect word).
it took 24 hours since I've been here, but I'm now hearing my first truly horrible song
turning wheel is making me ...

A serious guitar talent, but I tire easily of the style, the voice, or something. Just can't quite put my finger on it.
for me, it's largely the voice - just doesnt sound like anything special. the general sound of the track is kind of hollow too - there's just no meat to it. definitely has an 80s production style to it.

How's this for an explanation: It sounds way too much like Kenny Loggins from the mid '80s.

Well this song made me change my rating real fast from a '2' to an '8'. Starts out pretty lame, but damn! does it kick up.
This comes from such a great album. In my opinion, the most innovative slide guitarist around, and this album shows it.
Hmmm.....a 'wheel' theme this afternoon, maybe?
Sounds like a southern Lindsey Buckingham. Nice!
This is a great album. Native Stepson should get some spin.

I wish you could, too, 'cause I noticed we mostly agree! ;-)

like it alot!
Way to go, Bill! Sonny and his screaming slide guitar are true Cajun heroes, and always big draws at Jazzfest. Now better known perhaps as John Hiatt\'s guitarist in the Goners, his solo albums are great as well, including this one.
