Excellent Tune!!  RP introduced me to him, now I like a LOT of his music! That is why we come here.  Thanx RP!

I second that. {#Notworthy}

And BTW, I think Sonny Landreth and Stevie Ray Vaughn would have made a seriously kick-ass guitar threat.  Love SL's music. (Note to self:  Why don't you have any of his CD's???)  And where's the "facepalm" icon?

Speak of the Devil...Back in my day when the Devil came around we used to give him a real good thrashing before sending him packing. Nowadays the Devil is invited in for dinner and to babysit the kids! Who is this Devil? Well let me tell you..."Excuse me Mr Bond". Who are you? "A friend Mr Bond. Please go with these gentlemen, they wish to speak to you in another room". What? No...this can't be happening...Let me go,I won't stand for it.

"I apologize for that outburst ladies and gentlemen. Don't worry about Mr. Bond, he'll be back to his old self in no time. Now, please continue listening to Radio Paradise". {#Twisted}

Peter wins the thread!

Definitely an unknown guitar legend.

Eric Clapton about Sonny: "Probably the most advanced guitar player walking this earth..."

Damn, the guy picks with ALL FIVE of his fingers!! Now that's unbelievable! As far as the singing goes, he's not a bad singer but it's not exciting.

Anyway, there are far better songs on this album!! Too bad for the ones who don't know him besides this song and probably won't ever listen to another one of his...

boring as hell.....
I just wish Sonny was a more exciting vocalist. He's certainly got the guitar chops, but his singing leaves me wanting.

Writing that much text to someone who gave Bill Shatner an "8" and Jimi Hendrix a "4" (for VooDoo Chile?!?) is unbelievable. {#Stupid}

That sort of "ear" is terminal. The person you were replying to is no doubt listening to The Thompson Twins or David Soul right now. {#Music}

Save your time, and your breath. Just say "no" to tin-eared poseurs! {#Evil}

It's just bad form to comment / hate / trash other people for their playlists.
Sonny can bring it........... so can his bass player..

You clearly have a full house or better, I fold. {#Rolleyes}

Sonny is GREAT in concert..........all I can say

  Luckily, all the people who ask him to play in their sessions in the studio, don't agree with you.  And neither do I.  Sparky.

I'm just glad it's not Congo Square...again.

Hackneyed.....

No it doesn't make you a bad person but you seem confused, I looked at your play list and you have SRV''s "Life By The Drop" rated a 9, sorry but thats the blues so I looked and saw a couple others that fall in the blues genre but what was curious to me ya had Shatner rated at a 8 but Otis Redding Dock Of The Bay, Stray Cats Stray Cat Strut, Zeps Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Derek and the Dominos Layla and the Stones Jumpin' Jack Flash all rated 5 and Jimi's Voodoo Child a 4 each of which sold a ton of copies and some are considered classics not that all people have to like them. Like I say to each his own but William Shatner a "8" and Hendrix a "4"? lol you do have some strange tastes but no you definitley aren't a bad person but Billboard or Rollingstone won't be hiring ya anytime soon and by the way a 7 is just quite likeable

This is good, but I just can't bring myself to rate any blues song higher than a six. Because some are better than others, but never that much better. Like, if I rate this a 7, I'll see this in my ratings list and think "wow, that song must be really good — a 7!" But then I'll hear it and think "yeah, good, but it's blues. Is this really that much better than ALL the OTHER blues out there?" It's just not different enough. And I don't think blues can EVER be different enough. Does that make me a bad person?

Sonny.  Nice.
Otomi, too much time on your hands, methinks.

I wish that were true, Mike. If it were, I'd put together a series of objects for a local gallery, something I haven't managed to pull off for a little over a decade, due to the pressure to publish exerted by the academic environment I live in. (I'm not complaining, just explaining.) Patterned emoticon assemblages can easily be created during the playing of a single song, although I admit the frame can take another couple of minutes. In this case I thought the assemblage needed a touch of blue-green to ignite the warm colors in the central part of the composition.

Sonny Rocks.

What is your major malfunction?!?!?!?!?!

Hmm, Stevie Ray then this - Radio Paradise brought to you today by smokin' blues guitar. Oh look, now Roy Rogers? Fwahh!!  {#Bananajam}
Good thing Sonny's not running for president... Apparently believing that evil exists is a prerequisite.

I *almost* thought this was Eric Johnson when I heard the voice at first. However, the guitar has no where near the right tone.
Sonny was pretty damn rockin' last night!  He sounded like Angus Young & Pete Townsend's sectet love-child, left to grow up in the bayous of Louisiana (but in the best possible way!)  :)

I was blown away.
Bill - it would be OK to rock out once in a while.  The Gods of Esoteria will continue to smile. Current less-is-more tune from Sonny is case in point.  Thank you.

DW
I love any Blues - traditional delta, english milktoast, mississippi delta, chicago style, etc., and YES I think this is better and different than the typical blues - there's a certain smoothness in the composition, a good steady drive to the tempo, and just enough spiciness in the vocal licks and guitar tone to make it unique. Starting to like this guy a lot.....

Hey, I like this song. Immediately looked it up on iTunes (not there).
Sublime? Nah.
But catchy, well-executed.
Not cry-in-your-beer blues.

It's funny that Bill would have read that entire comment right then. . .because on this second listening, I was thinking "wow, now THIS is some good blues!" :-)

Gonna see Sonny tonight!!! :)

Finally! we're getting to some rocking. Now lets hear some Dio, Ratt, Dokken or some other good old mullet rock where no one posts a comment using words like "sublime", "thrice", "ephemeral" etc etc. ROCK babay!
His voice reminds me quite a bit of Eric Johnson.
His voice just isn't tough enough to be singin' the blues. His guitar sure as hell speaks, though!
I love this tune. It's from a fantastic CD. Saw Sonny a few years back at the Ottawa Bluesfest with my (then) 5yo son. He loved Sonny almost as much as the "mardi-gras" beads the band was throwing out at the crowd.
Sounds like low rent stevie ray vaughn.

Sorry... But it sounds like BUTT ROCK to me.
Any rock or hard rock band from 1983 to 1990 that wore spandex and wailed about chicks & cars. Also, hair was either mullet or highly gooed with hairspray. Glacier washed denim and leather were the fashion of butt rock. Slaughter, Dio, Dokken, Ratt, Poison, Great White, White Lion, Steelheart, Tesla, Grim Reaper, Def Leppard, Vixen, Danger Danger, Skid Row and Bullet Boys.
Sorry... But it sounds like BUTT ROCK to me.
FSM, I love 12-bar blues! Really like the bouncy bass line.
I saw Sonny opening for the Neville Brothers this past summer. He was great, but a bit too loud for my 9 yr. old daughter. She LOVED the Neville Brothers though.
Yeah Dawg! How 'bouts a little Git-tar! 10+
My wife said "Oh I love this song!" I never heard it before, so had to run to computer to see who it was. I then said, "Oh yeah, Sonny" Great song!
