It was rainin' this mornin'
It was rainin' this mornin'
It was rainin' this mornin'
And I feel as low and lonely as the rain.
Just yesterday, a wind came blowin'
Through the streets of this old town
And it blew away, it blew away some dirt
Blew away
Ah this brand new love that I found.

And it was rainin' this mornin'
It was rainin' this mornin'
It was rainin' this mornin'
And I feel as low and lonely as the rain.

Now thern't no roof that can keep away these raindrops
And there's no four walls that keep away
Keep away the cold
And there's no way that I can walk around
The streets of this old town.
Without a hand
Without a hand to hold.

And it was rainin' this mornin'
It was rainin' this mornin'
It was rainin' this mornin'
And I feel as low and lonely as the rain.

Now let it rain.

Look to the east
Look to the west
Look to the ground beneath your feet
Look to skies
Look to skies above
And there ain't nothin' in this land
That you will ever understand
There ain't nothin'
You're ever gonna be sure of.

'Cus it was rainin' this mornin'
It was rainin' this mornin'
It was rainin' this mornin'
And I feel as low and lonely as the rain.
Yeah, I feel as low and as lonely as the rain.

Why does this remind me of the music from the movie "Brother Where Art Thou?"?
it's from Good Will Hunting.
I've always liked this song. As I look out of the window onto Jefferson St. here in Chicago's Loop, I notice that it's raining....and sleeting and snowing as well...
Very fitting, Bill. The weather where I am is terrible. Cold, wet, nasty.

Speakin of..Wouldn't mind hearin somethin from that soundtrack.
Any chance Dubya's bro's middle name is Loy??
PLEASE MAKE IT STOP RAINING!!!
Love the Skatalites like horn intro and throughout....RP please play some Skatalites.
I could be wrong, but I think it was raining this morning. Apparently, it gave Jeb a sinus infection. Ho hum.
The banjo must be a popular instrument, its everywhere, its driving me crazy!

Ok. Then don't mind me....I'll be over here in my own little version of reality....

If you like the song, go buy the "Good Will Hunting" soundtrack. This song plus other greats, lots of Elliot Smith.
:nodhead:

Not sure if it is just the mood of the morning or the blend of tempo and voice... But I like this very much.

This is an OK song but sheesh. It is played way too often here and on the PIG. DOes this guy have any other songs?
He does, but this is -- IMO -- his best. "Kissing Gate" (is that right? my mind just blanked on the title...) is another one that gets played a bit, but it's not as easy to listen to.
Needs a little cheese to go with all this whine! Vocals are pretty bad!
This song was interesting for maybe the first 20 seconds.
If you like the song, go buy the \"Good Will Hunting\" soundtrack. This song plus other greats, lots of Elliot Smith.
cool, hypnotic groove! ...ala J.J. Cale good stuff!!!
Great music. I am generally anti-banjo. I was even in a band once called NO BANJOS. But there\'s something hypnotic and beutiful here.
great trombone solo and the banjo is cool
This is an OK song but sheesh. It is played way too often here and on the PIG. DOes this guy have any other songs?
Was it raining this morning?

damn... i always miss this one, and it is one of my all-time RP favorites. Job Loy Nichols gets my vote for one of the most underrated artists of our time.
I like it, but am getting tired of hearing it every day...

ditto that for me as well.
I don't think that I really liked this song the frist time I heard it since I rated it a 4, but now I think I have to rate it a lot higher than that. It's not a 10, but I certainly like it. Maybe I am getting over my phobia to country thanks to Dana Lyons. :D Not that I consider this country... because it definatly isn't. But I think the twang but me off the frist time I heard this.
Love it or hate it, this certainly scores a big fat 10 on RP\'s scale of eclecticity and differentness! Kudos, Bill! I like the song, but the \"mid-level twangy-rumbling / guitar\" is juuust a bit too loud for my taste.
Wow Reggae Rythm and tw!!!anky banjo WOW!!!
I assume that the thing making that mid-level twangy-rumbling is a guitar. Wish I had a better way to describe it! if it is a guitar, how does one make that kind of sound with it, if it is not a guitar, what is it?
Horns and banjo - me like.
Wow! The collage of sounds make for wonderful music. I can\'t believe I\'ve never heard of him...
Woww -- yet another track that leaves me stunned at what I\'ve been missing. This is awesome, sublime -- thankyou thankyou Bill.
I would highly recommend buying the disc, pilgrim - every track is equally as good as this one. new album is really good too, but I personally prefer his first.
