When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school
It's a wonder I can think at all
And though my lack of education hasn't hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall
Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
Give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don't take my Kodachrome away
If you took all the girls I knew when I was single
And brought 'em all together for one night
I know they'd never match my sweet imagination
And everything looks worse in black and white
Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama don't take my Kodachrome
Mama don't take my Kodachrome
Mama don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama don't take my Kodachrome
Leave your boy so far from home
Mama don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama don't take my Kodachrome

Is Kodachrome a code word for pot?
I got a Nikon camera too !
In the NYT Crossword yesterday!
Thanks, RP! I needed that. A great song from a much less complicated time in life.
Is this song about a camera, or his vivid memories of his youth? You pick.

I'm more of a Tri-X guy.

One of those songs that when you heard it in the car you were always driving faster at the end of it than when it started.
One of the best American song writers
I'm more of a Tri-X guy.
I mostly hate Paul Simon Songs, but this one really has a good vibe - didn't think the guy can actually produce anything that nice :-)
This song is literally why I bought a Nikon camera in the 1970s.
I know not why, but this song popped in my head when I first heard the term - omicron.
Is it even possible to sit still to this tune?
Fun tune from Paul. To me Kodachrome goes well with his 50 Ways tune.
Doesn't appear to played often on RP. Though a little more recently

I'm guessing BillG just added this one to the rotation. Calling this one an 8, it's catchy and well written and talks crap about public education, though I suppose nowadays it'd be "don't take my iPhone away"
LLRP!!
Only 68 ratings for this classic? Come on RP we're better than that.
