they told you your music
could reach millions
that the choice was up to you
you told me they always
pay for lunch
and they believe in what i do
and i wonder
will you miss your old friends
once you've proven what you're worth
yeah i wonder
when you're a big star
will you miss the earth

and i know you would always want more
i know you would never be done
'cuz everyone is a fucking napoleon
yeah everyone is a fucking napoleon

and the next time
that i saw you
you were larger than life
you came and you conquered
you were doing alright
you had an army
of suits behind you
and all you had to be was willing
and i said i still
make a pretty good living
but you must make a killing
a killing

and i hope that you are happy
i hope at least you are having fun
'cuz but everyone is a fucking napoleon
yeah everyone is a fucking napoleon

now you think, so that is
the way it's gonna be
that's what this is all about
i think that that is
the way it always was
you chose not to notice until now
yeah now that there's a problem
you call me up to confide
and you go on for over an hour
'bout each one that took you for a ride

and i guess that you dialed my number
'cuz you thought for sure that i'd agree
i said baby, you know i still love you
but how dare you complain to me

everyone is a fucking napoleon
yeah everyone is a fucking napoleon

Ani Difranco is like the John Madden of alt.rock, except instead of saying "BOOM!" every 5 words, she has to use the word f*ck. I don't see why football fans love Madden so much, and I'm not sure why Difranco has such a fan base, either.
:??:

Maybe church music is more your thing?

I wonder, then, what you would suspect certain classes of male singer songs to have been written on--condom wrappers? jockstraps? And, as songs, are they any better, or do they provoke any less derision, for having been symbolically inscribed on such surfaces? That di Franco's songs provoke such gendered responses surely says more about their respondents than about the artist or her work. Perhaps it's worth reflecting on why that is. RJ
Ugh....I dont think I can stand anything by this girl. She has nothing on Tori, Aimee, or Sheryl.
Another one of those female singer songs that sound like it was written on a feminine napkin.
Why do Ani DiFranco fans say \"Yay!\" so much and why do they use so many CAPITALS and exclamation points?!!

what in the world does her shaving her legs have anything to do with this song or her use of the word f*ck? \"i say baby, you know i still love you, but how dare you complain to MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE?\" ani is amazing. this song is spectacular.
Blah.
Doesn't it seem hypocritical that the website is designed to censor foul language written by RP listeners with an asterisk and yet this song is in the playlist? The statement seems to be: "It's OK for an 'artist' to express themselves in whatever language they choose, but those of us not behind a microphone must hide behind black boxes."

Good live album by the lady. Check out Indigo Girls '12000 Curfews' live.
Hey look eveyone, I said F**K! Why do I get the distinct impression this girl doesn\'t shave her legs. Dot

Listening to RP has meant more opportunity to listen to Ani. My appreciation for her has certainly grown. I dig it!
