When she talks, she moves her mouth
instead of her lips.

CHORUS:
And i've waited for her for so long
i've waited for her for so long
i've wondered if i could hang on
i wonder if i could hang on, yeah
let me go she said, let me go she said
let me go and i will want you more,
let me go she said,
let me go
let me go and i will want you

When she wants, she wants the sun
instead of the moon.
When she sees, she see the stars
inside of her room.

CHORUS

let me go she said (x3) and I will want you more,
let me go she said
let me go,

definition of a Novelty Band

It sounds like Cake to me. Can't think of another unnamed band that sounds quite like them.

Okay - the cover has a pig.  I can only offer this:  A pig's orgasm lasts for half an hour.  I don't know if this is pertinent, but somehow, I can't help but think it is.  And pigs are physically unable to look up into the sky.  So if a bird craps on them, they won't know it. But then, their orgasms last for half an hour, so I'm pretty sure they don't care if a bird craps on them.

The song?  Um, I'm sure someone else will comment on it. I'm too busy thinking about what it would be like to have a half-hour orgasm.  Maybe without being a pig.

The 30-minute claim seems to be an oft-repeated exaggeration. More importantly, all the discussions of it that I could find, referred to males (boars). Sow orgasms were conspicuously absent from my google searches. Until Cecil.

The Straight Dope identified studies that shew female macaques having 6-minute orgasms--usually from other females, as the males had no clue what they were doing.  You're welcome. https://www.straightdope.com/2...

Love this band so much.  It's as if they decided all music is poetic, so we're going to take it in a prosaic direction.  The music will be staccato, and the lyrics will be stolid and clear like some orator's speech.  How to carve out a new place in the well worn rock genre.
Not a fan but hey, I can appreciate it.  The lyrics are kind of catchy...

So in summary, Bird craps on pig. Pig has 30 hr orgasm. Man eats pig (think savory smoked ribs drowned in BBQ sauce) Man has foodgasm. The circle of life!
yeah, let it go.....please

One of my 35 favorite songs from Cake.
{#Dancingbanana_2} Thoroughly enjoying this!

https://extras.denverpost.com/scene/cake0208.htm

I've been a fan of CAKE since I first heard "Stick Shifts and Safety Belts" from Fashion Nugget, and haven't really paid much attention to the musicians.  I did find this interview with John McCrea, and really liked what he had to say about losing their original guitarist, Greg Brown...and then the very last paragraph....well I think he's a genius anyways. LONG LIVE RP!!!

Cake's lineup has changed a bit - guitarist Greg Brown, who wrote "The Distance,'' quit just as the group was preparing to record "Prolonging the Magic'' (new guitarist Xan cq McCurdy has joined the group on tour).

"I was going to break up the band and start something else,'' McCrea said. "But for various reasons - the clincher was that I wanted to do album art for one more CD - I said, "Well, let's just see what happens if I keep it going. If it doesn't seem like it's working musically, I hope I have the integrity to knock it down.'

"It turned out OK. A lot of things happened that would never have happened with Greg in the band, like the use of pedal steel guitar and other instruments. There was an empty space in the music that the other people in the band rose to fill.

"And I got old acquaintances to play guitar on the album, and that was fun - it was like enjoying my freedom after a long relationship.

"But I don't think everything can be supergreat for anyone. In Chinese philosophy, they always talk about how, when one thing is good, something else is bad by definition - there's this coexistence of opposites at all times to maintain balance. I try to live in America - you only have a certain amount of chocolate shake in your cup, and you pour it into another cup and there's one that's empty.''

Have to declare it.....Cake is officially overplayed on RP, can't believe how much I hear it here.  Granted different tunes but such adolescent stupid music....Primus can be too but at least they are phenomenal musicians.
Cake = A guilty pleasure
The more I hear this band the more I like them. The words 'witty' and 'inventive' come to mind, not to mention some very nice guitar playing.

This is why I loved you, Ann, and why I miss you so very much. What you didn't say was if the male pig's or the female pig's orgasm lasted for half an hour. Either way, whew!
Yesssssssss!

Clearly the result of the Scientologists' devotion to this song, resulting in a fierce gaming of the rating. Stingray can tell you all about it.

5/26/16: Arrggh. Just PSDed to this song. It's like running away from a barking dog and stepping onto a landmine.

Not so long ago my daughter showed me an instructional video on how to stimulate a sow prior to and during artificial insemination, since doing this gets better results (more piglets?  or just happier swine? I forget..) and this fact of 30 minute orgasms was not mentioned. Given that the video was only 5 minutes or so I'm guessing the poor sow was yet again denied satisfaction.

I only bring this up because, even in hard times, you should never give up looking because there is some job out there for you, one you can not only do but improve upon. And to give Cynaera a cosmic shout-out.

The song? OK, not great. I think the point of the song is, though she may actually want you more if you let her go, it is only relative to how much she does not want you now, but really wants you to let go. Good advice, best to take it. But don't worry- there maybe an understimulated pig out there just waiting for you that knows you have what it takes and the patience to do it right.

Lotta hatin' on the song, but I'll chime in for the other side. I like it.
You may go.
Food cake = yum
Band Cake = not so much
saw these guys at World Fest in Grass Valley a while back.  I think they were so stoned that they barely put on their instuments much less perform.  We lasted 2 songs and left.  I have no use for a band or performer that does not respect their fans or even acknowledge their presence at a live concert.  There is so much good music out there to take there place.  Please play that instead.

Ok, ok...a Cake song I don't think is supremely stupid. Does that mean high score? Nope...just not terrible.

 Half an hour? That's the reason why the album's title is "Prolonging the Magic".

From your mouth to God's ear. I'd just your "a little" to "really, really" .

Whatever happened to Crash Test Dummies? Do they still have that crappy singer who sounds like he's trying to hold in a massive bong hit during the whole song?

Yes, "spoken-song" or "spoken-voice" singing.  He's been doing it for over 20 years now; I'm pretty sure he does it deliberately, not by mistake.  It's annoying sometimes but that's a component of CAKE.

I hear you and I too really like cake. But I wish they'd offer us something a bit different. Still cake-y, but different. As an analogy, lets consider Cake is a vanilla cake with chocolate frosting. All of their music is vanilla cake with chocolate frosting — certainly tasty, but if you like cake, you might like a little variety. For instance throw some coconut cake, or Black Forest cake, or chocolate cake with seven-minute frosting into the mix. Still Cake, but a little different and it will keep you coming back for more.

Really do love this band - but sometimes wish they'd let someone else do lead vocals.  It just gets a little old (like the crash test dummies).

I have a hard time believing you've never heard of cake! Check the other songs they've got and you've probably heard of them. "Never There", "Short skirt, long jacket", and their remake of "I will survive" get some pretty good airplay.
I'm thinking, what and who is this? Took a quick look and I should have figured it was Cake. Fun song.
