Give me one more chance
And you'll be satisfied
Give me two more chances
You won't be denied

Well my heart is where it's always been
My head is somewhere in between
Give me one more chance
There will be a lover tonight

(Check it out)

You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing
Even better than the real thing

Give me one last chance
And I'm gonna make you sing
Give me half a chance
To ride on the waves that you bring

You're honey child to a swarm of bees
Gonna blow right through you like a breeze
Give me one last chance
We'll slide down the surface of things

You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing
Even better than the real thing

We're free to fly the crimson sky
The sun won't melt our wings tonight

Oh now
Here she comes

Take me higher
Take me higher
Can you take me higher?
Will you take me higher?

You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing

Even better than the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Even better than the real thing.

Here, B0n0 lashes out at the Sweden Democrats(SD) and others. Even though one might not agree with other people's political views, I think it's absolutely outrageous to compare SD with the nazi party in 1930's Germany. I don't agree with SD, but I know enough of european history to recognize exactly the behavior from B0n0 -which in itself very much resembles nazi propaganda.

This makes me sick and results in a rating of minus 10 on every bloody song they have on RP.

As Ruth Whitefeather Feldman would say: Focksticks!

I agree with that and yet I was a fan of U2 since Joshua tree .... 8 instead of 9 on this song. And to answer Bono: "All that is excessive is derisory."

yep, sums up my experiences with them live.
Put me on the side of the fans; great album and great track.

The funny thing about the U2 bashers is that they'll slam a song like this and also slam "Running to Stand Still" and also slam "Bad," saying how boring  and monotonous the band is; as if the songs even sound remotely the same. They may be "past their prime" at this point but this was an epic, and bold, album and it doesn't have a weak track on it.

The first time I heard "The Fly" I didn't know what to make of it but it didn't take long to appreciate how the band (successfully) made an effort to reinvent themselves, and now it stands as just an all-time classic.

Agree on all counts, TJO!

(The video for this song was pretty great too...)
The first ressurection of a great band!
Great song

Annoying. If they don't have decent lyrics why not just shut up?
wayyyy over played.  hated it in the 90s and still today

My first CD, the albums have been sleeping for awhile but starting to awaken
Great music
Amazing song.  Perhaps my fave from this great album.  Great live.
One of the greatest albums ever.

I think he resurfaced under the name" PAPERNAPKIN".

Falling out with them through the Joshua Tree???

A classic.  Made my afternoon (in spite of the fact that Achtung Baby has taken up permanent residence in my car...)

I would have to agree. Has not aged a day!
What a great song to wake-up! :bananajumprope: According to Danny Lanois the new album seems to be a lot more inovative than the last two!
One of the best songs on one of the best albums by one of the best bands of all time. Amazing live.
Still like U2 after all the years.

had a dream lastnight where my 4yr old was lounging wearing this ridiciulous pair of sunglasses, something out of Brazil (the movie), acting totally cool, telling me she liked Bono. Very funny to me.
T-REX?
so burnt out!
What a bunch of talentless tossers
First, I thought, it's Simple Minds...

sure holds up doesn't it? I dig it.

Joshua Tree. By a long ways. anruler wrote:
I'll third that. These guys have become insuferable of late but, in my opinion, this album represents their peak.

The clever thing about the video was the fact that everyone who appeared in it was a U2 impersonator. Fits with the lyrics don't chya think? :-)
Amazing the way they reinvented themselves on this one. Not many bands can successfully pull that off. Hard to believe this came out 15 years ago.

Yeah, this album really got me back into U2 in a big way, after falling out with them through The Joshua Tree and Rattle & Ho-Hum.
My favorite U2 album.
If you saw them perform this song during their ZooTV tour, you'd be rating it a 10 too..
not the best song on this amazing album

That is the virtually same comment you made last week - if you must post about your dislike of U2 on every track at least try coming up with a different comment each time.
Which makes sense, as every single `song' of U2 is of the same low standards, or are you saying you hear a difference?
someone here has a permanent burr under their saddle...perhaps its rendered from their ill-earned, exhaustively inflated ego. or maybe its just a negative attitude from thinking they have the last call on the quality of everything under the spread of the universe. it seems to me that if a person doesn't like the majority of what they hear on a station, they'd listen to something else? just an idea. have a nice day. :daisy:

But still not better than one point. Ouch this hurts my ears.
one point about U2 worth making. this band is far better than they were in the early days. when i first saw them in 1980 they were way too serious, pious, pretentious. they emerged from a stagnant period in the nineties and have since been raging, creating their very best work. i cant recall any other band pulling off a feat like that.

I think if you really examined the playlists, you'd find there's really not a ton of U2 on here.

OUCH!
Thanks for playing this song, Bill!
Sweet! Dude! Sweet!! :bounce:
I feel like I\'m hearing lots of U2 today. Maybe I\'m hallucinating again...
This album was all over the grocery store--everything from flat pop (no pun not intended) to crunchy guitar. This song was somewhere in the middle, more filler than a song with a message, IMO.

i would consider "old school" u2 pre-joshua tree. :p

this is one the best group going and this is one of there best!
Best band of all time!
I\'m with Mike - U2 live is the way to go! But nothing will ever beat the sheer spectacle of the POP MART tour.
Makes me wanna go to the soda machine and get a Coke...
Sounds pretty much simular to Get It On by T-Rex (speeded up, of course) especially in the verses.
Heck yeah! Love the \"old-school\" U2 ;)
