When you were languishing in rooms I built to foul you in,
And when the wind set down in funnel form and pulled you in...

I don't need to walk around in circles, walk around in circles,
Walk around in circles, walk around in.
I don't need to walk around in circles, walk around in circles,
Walk around in circles, walk around in.....

And when the ghostly dust of violence traces everything,
And when the gas runs out, just wreck it, you insured the thing.

I don't need to walk around in circles, walk around in circles,
Walk around in circles, walk around in.
I don't need to walk around in circles, walk around in circles,
Walk around in circles, walk around in.....

But I can't sigh now that you made the move.
It has gone and gone to dogs, lay down on the floor.
For the right price I can get everythng,
Slip into the car, go driving to the farthest star...

I don't need to walk around in circles, walk around in circles,
Walk around in circles, walk around in.
I don't need to walk around in circles, walk around in circles,
Walk around in circles, walk around in.....

Play this and Light Will Keep Your Heart Beating in the Future back to back and you will discover they are essentially the same song.

His vocal phrasing is often very similar in a lot of his songs, but this song has a completely different chord progressions and tempo than that song.

Gotta like some old Mike. Nicely played, Bill.
Although Mike Doughty says that when someone says "Soul Coughing" he hears "F**k you" - I think they put out some really fantastic albums.
How good is this?  Crank up those ratings ...
Dear prudence have a long orbit.
Laugh at it turns into a tragic rhetoric.
Finally can't say if I am coming or going.
This sounds like a homage to something, but I can't think what? Dam good song though!
never have heard - very cool! like!
I just love these guys. Too bad they split up. This album (El Oso)contains a great many cool tunes, but this one is by far the most catchy one. More Soul Coughing please! :D
I like it as a theme for Betty Boop racing on Cartoon Network
The out of tune strings make me want to tear my hair out. This is PAINFUL.
It's too bad that those are the actual lyrics, RHW. Walking around in circles would be a decent jab at irony... Sorry I don't share everyone's enthusiasm :(
I like this tune, it\'s off and catchy at the same time. Like that Louise Goffin tune that occasionally gets played here (and only here, as far as I can tell), the out of tune guitar is part of its charm if you ask me.
I knew this broad once who annouced this as her favorite song. She actually used to walk around in circles like an idiot whenever she heard it, aparently not paying attention to the lyrics, \"i DON\'T need to walk around in circles.\" Unfortuantely, this song reminds me of her. ugh. So.....my opinion of this song has been tarnished and I give it a 1, sorry.
the main acoustic riff is out of tune - blech
MORE MORE MORE Soul Coughing please. They are one of the coolest, most-unique bands to come out of the 90s... If they were only still together... Encore! :)
