Unlike this 1986 high school graduate, this 1986 song holds up.
A song sent out hoping the one, that which the Hermetics calls Atum, hears. I still believe, too. Through all my space, and all of my time, I'll keep to this path I've found, using this life I've been gifted, and maybe....just maybe....I still believe....

FYI, The late singer Michael Been is the father of Robert Been the bass player/vocals of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, who Bill happens to play here on RP quite frequently.
this just made me think of this time last year when my best friend's son (27 yrs old, artist, kind of a recluse) went missing from his home in oregon one day. left his phone, wallet, keys, etc. at home, door unlocked, and just took a walk. he apparently had a psychotic break at some point and was living in a cave for about 30 days, surviving on some seeds he had brought with him, and some thistle...he said he got into some type of fugue state after meditating for days, (he's very religious/spiritual) and it was the most beautiful thing he'd ever experienced, so he tried it again, and was met with some terrible hallucinations of evil that he felt like eh summoned...he just couldn't get back to the nirvana-type state he experienced. some how, one day he resurfaced, and had no idea he was gone for so long, that the authorities, locals, family (some of whom flew from pittsburgh, pa including my best friend and the rest of his siblings) had been searching all this time and were thinking that he was dead. and in he walks one day into a library to use a computer to get in touch with family. it was a terrible time, but we were so relieved he resurfaced. the beginning of this song reminds me of coming from his point of view. we really wish he would get some therapy, and get diagnosed so he can get some treatment, but he refuses. we're just hoping this kind of episode doesn't happen again, but...

BRMC is truly a great band in their own right. Michael died while working on one of his son's BRMC tour. Going out the way he would have wanted, rocking. With family. I still believe.
One of my favorite bands in the late 80's. I got a chance to see them live in Sacramento, but it was spur of the moment, we walked in halfway through the show, and I was already hammered. I don't remember a thing.

Ahhh....Santa Cruz in the mid 80s. Me in my 20s. Michael Bean jamming in his garage over off Morissesy Blvd with The Call getting ready for a show at the Catalyst. I asked to listen in and leaned against my hood drinking a beer. I knew then that this was a good thing to remember.

Saw these guys perform at a Borders bookstore back in the early 2000s (I know, what a lousy gig). They sounded great, performing for about 50 people. When the set was over, they booked (pun intended).

I like the call, but the Syntho makes me cringe slightly, it reminds me of the syntho part of the Revenge of Nerds movie. I hope that this comment does not ruin the song for others who will only see Gilbert doing his techno thing with a syntho keyboard.

Only got to see them live once, but they killed. Had to use borrowed equipment as theirs had been stolen prior to the show. RIP Michael.

YES!!!I'd agree with both the positive and the negative comments about this song. Michael Beene(sp?) played a great bass live (six-string fretless, IIRC) - among the better talents I saw during that time period for that instrument.
