Gonna leave the city put my troubles behind
People in the city goin' out of their minds
Goin' to the country just to feel like gold
People in the country really let themselves go

Hey, ho, one thing I know
People in the country got one thing for sure
Hey, ho, one thing I know
Every mother's child really lets himself go

Goin' to the country and leavin' right away
No time to talk I got to make a getaway
Gonna leave the city it's a crime and a shame

People in the city are goin' insane

Hey, ho, one thing I know
Every mother's child really lets himself go
Hey, ho, one thing I know
People in the country really let themselves go

Joining hands
Making plans
Come on down
Look around

Great song, one of my favs from this album.
The album cover shown on the site is wrong for this song. This song isn't on Brave New World; it's on Number 5.

Bill,the kids & me like it ! {#Guitarist}
Thank you! Thank you! Steve Miller before he completely sold out. I used to LOVE this song, and haven't heard it in a dog's age. In several dog's ages. Now, how about my other favorite from this era: "Journey to Babel"?
quite the jam....Steve Miller?
When you're in the right mood (of course!) lovely, sunny, care-free, celebrate life music. Hey, ho!
Guitar man!!!

Referrence to an old 50's song... can't seem to remember the band. Oh, here, this should illuminate. https://www.straightdope.com/classics/a4_065.html

Like with (ack!) Abracadabra.
If I only knew I could write lyrics too

Fantastic. I played the hell out of this album back in the day, too. I am inclined to agree on liking his pre mid 70s stuff the best. Just listened to some of the later stuff a while back and loved it though. Big Old Jet Air Liner....
A great song from "Number 5". After that unfortunately with his commercial success the quality went down. Your Saving Grace is still one of my desert island discs.
I was never a big Steve Miller fan but saw him last weekend in Memphis and he put on a great show in a driving rain. When most bands refused to play or shortened their sets, Ol' Maurice showed them what rock & roll is all about.

Yes.

From Steve Miller #5 if I recall correctly. I have it at home, and it was for a very long time one of my favorite albums. A collection of wonderful tunes.
