My dark hour
My dark hour, you know it's drivin' me wild

Well, well, I went to see the doctor
And I had my fortune read
And you know the doctor told me
Son, you better stay in bed

Who's that comin' down that road
Looks like he's carryin' a heavy load
What's that voodoo that he started to say
Want to come with me on my way

My dark hour, mother nature's child
My dark hour, oh, it's drivin' me wild

Well, I went to see the doctor
Just to have my fortune read
Well, well, well, the doctor told me
Son, you better stay in bed

So do you think these sinners will fall
Or do you think they'll survive us all
Well, well, well, well down this road
Won't you help me carry my load

My dark hour, mother nature's child
My dark hour, oh, it's drivin' me wild

Oh, mother nature's child

Surely the whole point of Steve Miller is the head injury? I was born with one, and added quite a few more over the years - so this suits me damn' fine!

I came here to rave about this song--"I've never heard this before! This is brilliant!"--and then I saw our conversation.

Is Steve all about the head injury? Did not know that. Hope yours are in your rear view mirror.

But wow, this really funks out. Joe Walsh must have been envious. Bill, this deserves heavy rotation and a keg stand.
{#Devil_pimp}zesty ! arguably this album his finest !
Steve and Paul recorded this in London after Paul stormed out of a meeting involving Allen Klein's involvement with the Beatles. They apparently hit it off because Paul provided backing vocals on one of the album's other songs and didn't make a peep when "Space Cowboy," one of the songs on the album, basically recycled the "Lady Madonna" riff.

In the 90s, Steve returned the favor and played on Paul's "Flaming Pie" album – in particular, "I Used to Be Bad."  They also apparently recorded some blues covers together during that session that still haven't seen the light of day.
Damn it, I had this album many years ago. I disposed of it and a 100 others on the cheap. Muy stupido.

And bass & guitar & vocals. The whole thing is just Steve & Paul.

In all the years I've listened to (and liked) this song, I never knew Paul McCartney was involved. Thanks, Bill. I learn something every time I listen to RP.
Not everything by SM is great :-(

So cool to see BillG comment on a song and hear him comment on it at the same time. Can't say I like this song much though.

Fly Like An Eagle is the recycled riff. This is the original appearance. Still - points deducted...

Never associated Steve with a head injury...{#Think}  He's the guy who reeled off a big bunch of polished, highly produced hit songs. There was spaciness to some of his lyrics but the music was dreamy-smooth...

This still cooks.
God what the hell was that?

The guitar I like. If Steve would just sing a little less like a guy with a severe head injury, all would be fine.

And now we're onto Pixies "Monkey Gone to Heaven."  Frank Black can spazz out too but it makes a bit more sense the way he does it.

How about that? A Steve Miller song I don't hate! I don't live it but I don't hate it.

I really love the early Steve Miller stuff, but this sounds like one of those modern mash-ups to me...which I don't like.

Yea it is a bit muddled.  A little too many hallucinogens before the recordings session?
