"Black Nepalese got you weak in your knees".  Too right.
Saw them, along with Black Sabbath, and Mountain in March of 71 at the Spectrum in Philly while stationed in Ft Dix. Anybody out there who attended the same concert? Amazing the amount of pot smoked by all, just constantly passed down the aisles. Back to Pie; they were the weakest group, but Mountain and B, S. could rock real hard.

Please refer to my earlier fried chicken post and calm yourself little bubba

YEAH BABY SLAM IT!!!  Aaa-ooooooooohhh Hooo!!!   so wicked cool man
Bonus. You can sing "all right now" to this . not that there's anything wrong with that.

This is weird. I'd rated this as a 1 a while back, but listening to it now on the 'phones it's rockin' goodness has gotten to me. Isn't that cover just sooooooo 70s, my dear? I remember me and my mates doodling in that typeface during boring classes at school, as it was what all the cool bands (Bad Company, Deep Purple, etc) were using. It's surely dated now, though. 7 from the volte face Nottingham jury.

It happens to me all the time here. . .  2s go to 8s. . . 9s back to 3s.

I find it fascinating that ones perception of music changes so much depending on how you are feeling that particular day.
Best bass drum ever!

Smokin indeed!

Beavis and Butthead love this song.
Growing up I always thought this was Mother's Finest who in my neck of the woods are actually better known than the Pie.  Either way, great song.

Oooh - yeah! Oh, holy crap. I remember dancing to this in the living room of some guy fresh outta high school - he'd snuggle and snog, but I didn't wanna go all the way, and I'm sure that messed him up, but he kept trying. It was my introduction to water-filled headphones. He had the most ear-shattering stereo system, and this song was one of the first things I heard on it. "Hot N' Nasty" was the second. I danced to that one, too.

I just love Humble Pie.  Hot N' Nasty would be a great...

HA! When you said 'Hot & Nasty' I immediately thought of the band 'Black Oak Arkansas'. I always that Axel Rose stole that gutteral, nasaly whine from front man Jim Dandy!

...and then what happened?

Oh yeah!  I haven't heard the "Pie" in probably 30 years and was just thinkin' about how cool it would be to hear these guys again (i.e., my "Humble Pie" vinyl is LONG gone).  Thanks for such a cool blast from the past Bill!
Jerry Shirley did a stint as a DJ here in Cleveland in the late 80's.  Morning Drive even, on WNCX.  Put together a version of the Pie here in town and kept it going for about 10 years.  He got fired for alledgedly letting some money go missing from one of those fill up the truck things at Christmas.  Nice guy, but not the sharpest tool in the shed.  He did tell a lot of really good rock and roll stories.

Yuck.  This is the music that I listen to RP to get away from.
Just about as bad as it can get.   So incredibly amature!
For the longest I thought this was a Mother's Finest song, I didn't even know they were covering! My southerness is showing!{#Doh}
loved this record back in the day
Great tune.

Gov't Mule does a real nice cover of this also.
Peter Frampton on guitar

Hear Hear!!!
Would not want a normal diet of this music, but it is a refreshing change of pace.
I hadn't heard this in decades. Thank you sir. {#Dancingbanana}

Love this,just had some furnitures moving around,must not play so loud !{#Smile}
Please sir, may I have some more Pie?
Few rock singers equaled Steve Marriott in vocal heft.  The perfect voice for the music.  From Itchycoo Park to this, absolutely rocking.

RIP, Steve.
"I don't need no doctor"!

Early 70's was a real sweet spot during which some great blues based rock was created.

How about adding hot n' nasty to the list also.   Most unusual and great tune

1971 anchored 5 miles off the Mekong delta and had the Pie to keep us company.   Always loved the Pie, both before and after Frampton.  Music lost a great Rock voice when Steve Marriot passed.....{#Bananajam}

Excellent Bill !
HUGE  LOVE  FOR  THE  PIE ! ! ! !

OK, MOJo from Indianapolis got me thinking this way with his George Costanza quote from two tracks ago:

Seinfeld in Oz

I think you and I are the only ones to give this a 10!!   Rightfully so.

khekhe NICE segue.
I am not believing this! Have not heard this in a hundred years. Totally forgot about Humble Pie.
I friggin' love this song!
last time I heard this song I was getting baked at Field 4, Jones Beach....sigh....the memories....
Haven't heard this song in years. A classic drug song - thanks RP
Man, it was like, forEVER that I had NO IDEA what the heck they were saying! 30 Days in the Hole!! Right! Wow! I could never understand those words! I think I thought it was something like: "Heard it can't be wrong"?
This was a huge "request" song the summmer of its release by all of us who were stuck in crummy summer jobs and wanted to hear a song that spoke to our "situation." There was much group singing when the chorus came around.
New Castle Brown always smacks me down.My favorite beer. Saw these guys in the day.Steve Marriott had the best live blues voice I've ever heard.He was a small dude with a large voice.These guys could rock!
God, how I hated Humble Pie. I'd almost forgotten about them.
It's allright by me...good memories stirred by the soundtrack of the times.
I thought these guys were great. Put on a great show back in the 70s. Big fun - made you sweat alot.
Ugggh... wretched post-Frampton Humble Pie.
Almost sounds like AC/DC's original lead singer, Bon Scott, at times.

I guess you weren't around when 'Smokin', the LP this song came from, was released. History lesson, years ago in a country not so far away, possession of a small amount of weed would get you 30 days and a felony conviction...not a 100.00 ticket like today. I'm not promoting weed, just stating a fact. Also, Frampton and Humble Pie were a decent rocking outfit. Check out 'I Don't Need No Doctor'. Hey, they weren't the best but the sure pumped out some decent songs in the early seventies...this being one of them. Good choice Bill.
Classic druggie song.
