Dale Peters lived next to my Uncle in Cleveland. He helpfully pointed me to a Leon Russell concert at the stadium the day I met him. A very nice guy.

The James Gang's second album was a great mix of folk and hard rock. Third album also pretty darn good. Regrettable that Joe Walsh chose to leave the group to pursue his solo career - and then jump to the Eagles. But, I'm sure he made  a lot of money.

Saw the J Gang in Jersey (Roosevelt Stadium?) in the mid-70s with Johnny Winter and Alice Cooper. Suzy Quatro was supposed to be on the bill too but it got rained out the first day and she didn't show up to play the next day. What an incongruous line-up! Smiling again just thinking about it.

Joe's guitar is obviously a big deal, and I love it. But, for the James Gang, the thing that impresses me the most is the bass groove: in a trio, that bass has more to do. And while this bass line isn't as melodic as the one in, say, Funk #49, it's just absolutely perfect here.

Joe was a frequent guest / occasional fill-in radio host for a morning show (Johnathan Brandmeier?) on a popular station in Chicago in the '90s. 

Joe is an absolutely hilarious person, and very intelligent.  Oh yeah, his music still rocks, too!

Yes, one of the great musical groups out of Cleveland (hence Joe Walsh's cameo on the Drew Carey show).  Others include the Raspberries, Brownsville Station, Henry Mancini, and of course the greatest symphony orchestra ever (CSO under George Szell).

The first three James Gang CDs feature Joe Walsh's guitar talents. A couple of the later ones (Bang and Miami) feature the talent's of Iowa's own Tommy Bolin, who also rocked with Deep Purple for a brief time.
