There's a lady in a turban, in a cocaine tree
She does a dance so rhythmically
She's cryin', and a-singin' and having a time
And don't that cocaine tree look fine

You've got to put on your sailin' shoes
Put on your sailin' shoes
Everyone will start to cheer
When you put on your sailin' shoes

Jedidiah, he's got a dime
Says he catch a more fish, every time
Well I got a line, and you got a pole
And I'll meet you at the fishin' hole

You've got to put on your sailin' shoes
Put on your sailin' shoes
Everyone will start to cheer
When you put on your sailin' shoes

[guitar solo]

Doctor, doctor, I feel so bad
This is the worst day I ever had
He said, have you this misery a very long time?
Well if you are ill, ball it on the line

You've got to put on your sailin' shoes
Put on your sailin' shoes
Everyone will start to cheer
When you put on your sailin' shoes

More Feat please
Great song, great band, a standout in an odd musical era.

Very cool to see posts in this thread back 16 years.  That was near or same year I discovered RP - 2003.  Well done Bill.  Well done.

Man I used to love to go to the shows and party with them!
They could rock the house till the ceiling flew off.

This certainly has a lot of interesting character, and I like it; But I have to say Robert Palmers version grabs me more.

I almost always prefer studio albums, but one of my all time favorite LPs, and what I would consider the ultimate, must-have Little Feat is Waiting for Columbus.  This is a live album with the Tower of Power horn section.

I always kinda liked this song, but never tuned in to more Feat. Any suggestions for more good Feat music will be appreciated.

My favorite live album of all time, especially the reissue with all the songs they had to cut to make it fir on a double LP set. The re-issue includes Rock-n-Roll Doctor, one of my favorite Lowell George grooves.
Drunk sailors?  How about high misfit rockers with some whiskey on the side?

This is one of the most DRAG-A-LONG songs I have ever heard. It sounds like it was written by drunk sailors.

i much prefer the live version from 'waiting for columbus'. the 'cocaine tree' must not have been in bloom when they recorded this version. still a good tune.

I miss Lowell George!
I'm with you on that. Lowell's slide guitar was so awesome. Although Little Feat has put out some respectable music since Lowell's death, he is missed dearly.

On the album, this tune is followed by the hyper-kinetic Teenage Nervous Breakdown. Makes for an interesting contrast. So I like listening to this tune on the album, with the knowledge that they're about to pull out the stops.
I think this is a case of the cover being better... Bring on the Robert Palmer version!!!! (w/Feat as backup band) Q
I miss Lowell George!
Feat! Feat! Feat! Thanks, Bill!
Feats don\'t sail me now!

He prolly would've done more drugs!
