Google says way at the bottom of page one "This is the first single from Band of Joy, an album by the British rock singer Robert Plant and his band the Band of Joy. It was released on September 13, ..." and stops before saying 2010, in their short snippet from Song Facts, but if you go to the link used it says originally by Los Lobos ( in 1990) covered by Plant et al, and deeper tells you that David Hidalgo and Louie Perez of Los Lobos appear in the Plant & Band of Joy video for the single.
Also, Google Bing, and any that rely on them are getting worse and worse at finding info. Pags that contain what you are looking for either are now many pages into the search results, or not that at all anymore.

Plenty of misinformation on Google. Writers are David Hidalgo and Louis Perez of Los Lobos. This track appeared on Los Lobos' 1990 album The Neighborhood. Robert Plant covered it on his 2010 album Band of Joy and it was the lead single from the album. 

About the song Plant told Mojo magazine in an interview : "Los Lobos play with such great cool, Hispanic poly-rhythms. I kept thinking this song is like a nursery rhyme but the compulsion of the rhythm seems like it could be a reflection of the way they deal with their forefathers". 

As a further tribute to Los Lobos Plant featured Hidalgo and Perez in his video for the song.

I'm pretty sure this was a Los Lobos song originally (from a 1990 album). Plant only covered it on his Band of Joy album some 20 years later.

Love this song!
I do like Robert Plant's new cover with his Band of Joy which I had the pleasue of seeing live in Mobile recently. Robert's covers are always such a homage to the artists. He has such a good time presenting the music from which his original inspirations were drawn many years ago with Zepp (yes, I know this song had not been recorded at that time). His version is a little bouncier.
That being said, I think this Los Lobos original is superior, but not by much. {#Sunny}

This is probably the only song of theirs that does sound so much like Winwood.  Great band, very diverse, saw them live a couple of years or so ago in San Diego and they were a little disjointed, still put out rich music.  One of my favorite CDs is their "Just Another Band From East L.A," originally recorded to LP in 1978.

If you are looking to start your Lobos collection, "The Neighborhood" is a great place to start (along with either Kiko or Good Morning Aztlan). This is one of many great songs on this recording, not a bad song on this album. "The Giving Tree" and "Jenny's Got a Pony" still blow me away....
