It was a complete crap out to me that the powers that be of the R&R Hall of Fame didn't include Fleetwood Mac, the Bob Welsch years; that was a dick move. Welsh added a ton to the band in his era, still some of my favs, some of the guitar work and lyrics between he and Kirwan were excellent, talent heavy and heartfelt.

I'm a FM fan from the early days & (today) this is my favorite all-time tune of theirs. When the Buckingham/Nicks FM came out, it took me a while to accept them given I was such a huge fan of the previous incarnations, but I eventually got there.
How come I've never heard this before anywhere? (obviously not a Mac follower).
It sounds very modern, maybe someone has covered it or done something very similar in recent years.

AHHH...such a great song. I have this dubbed onto a cassette and was my only pre Buckingham/Nicks exposure at the time. Need to add this to my collection, again for the first time.

Have not heard this in forever. It was my introduction to Bob Welch FM. This was as far back I went in the pre-LB/SN FM at that time. I should have this on some tape format I recorded in the late 70's.
I think there's a Bob Welch album in that medium somewhere, too.

Absolutely modern. It doesn't seem written in 1973.
I always loved this song. For about 40 years, I never knew who the artist was.... Then to find out it was FM! I would have never guessed. I was never exposed to their earlier stuff. A few binge listens later, and I have since become a big fan of that particular phase of FM! And at the same time, finding other classics that I'd heard before, but never knew was FM...

Years ago a co-worker commented that he’d seen a concert video of Fleetwood Mac. He said it was great because they were playing a lot of their old stuff. Sounded perfect on FM radio back in 1973, and still sounds great. Spooky and cool with that plaintive chatty guitar; and the bass and drums in unison.

I first heard FM in college, after Fleetwood Mac came out in '75. Liked it a lot, and thought, "I wonder what else they've done?" Picked up this, Bare Trees, and Kiln House. What a surprise. Awesome in a different way, but still unexpected.
It's hard to compare FM pre- and post-Buckingham/Nicks, so I won't go down that rabbit hole. Chacun a son gout.

When this came out I was waiting tables in a beach town, one of the first things I did on the job was install a radio in the wait station and tune it to K-94, the "underground" station that served the mid-Atlantic.
Not long ago I was hanging with some friends from that period and they reminded me of the times this would come on the radio and I would stand and listen, ignoring the tables which needed service and the cooks crying for me to pickup my orders.

Thanks Bill reading Mick Fleetwood's autobiography he gets into this period of the bands history, quite interesting as this added a new sound to them, thanks for making RP always interesting.
This one isn't on Spotify. Therefore I am always thrilled to hear it on RP.

How well I can recall a journey made across the frozen Great Plains in a blizzard around Thanksgiving of '92, in the steady old smoothly purring '61 Impala; the special brownies were kicking in, the ex- who was then a new and mostly good wife was installed next to me calmly embroidering an exquisite lace tablecloth for my mother's coming birthday, and when this number came on, she said, "who is singing?" and I told her and she said that they were known in Mexico but not so much for this earlier stuff which she said that she really liked and I had to agree it was absolutely fabulous and was glad I'd known it when it broke. The ice flying by underneath us was slippery but navigable in The Long Iron Beast, and when they closed I-70 we drove on up to I-80 and with the help of such amazing music as this — we were well hypnotized as this album played through at least twice — made our way all the way over and then down to KC as planned. 17 hours later, on arrival, my eyes felt like someone had taken them out and rolled them across a machine-shop floor and my shoulders were tied in knots, but a long sleep put me right and ready to Feast like a Chieftain. How well I can recall a journey made across the frozen Great Plains in a blizzard around Thanksgiving of '92, in the steady old smoothly purring '61 Impala; the special brownies were kicking in, the ex- who was then a new and mostly good wife was installed next to me calmly embroidering an exquisite lace tablecloth for my mother's coming birthday, and when this number came on, she said, "who is singing?" and I told her and she said that they were known in Mexico but not so much for this earlier stuff which she said that she really liked and I had to agree it was absolutely fabulous and was glad I'd known it when it broke. The ice flying by underneath us was slippery but navigable in The Long Iron Beast, and when they closed I-70 we drove on up to I-80 and with the help of such amazing music as this — we were well hypnotized as this album played through at least twice — made our way all the way over and then down to KC as planned. 17 hours later, on arrival, my eyes felt like someone had taken them out and rolled them across a machine-shop floor and my shoulders were tied in knots, but a long sleep put me right and ready to Feast like a Chieftain.
