I immediately thought this was Yann Tiersen until I looked at the comments.
EXCELLNT!  Thanx RP!

Of all the comments ever posted on RP, this one technically says nothing, but in fact says it all....
Amelie soundtrack ripoff.
The opening toy piano reminds me of the band PRAM.

A great idea! I want this as my mobile phone's ringtone. It would be something ... going off while attending church.

Goddammit, this is SO annoying to listen to. It reminds me of TV in Scandinavia prior to the emergence of daytime crap, where only a test-pattern with a eardrum-piercing 1kHz tone would be on. Good times.... LOL.

Watch this! Amazing :-):

Liked it until the accordion came in. Strange, I love bagpipes, but, hate accordions.

But seriously what annoys me is not that I find this song so bad but the fact that it has literally received much more attention due to the similarity with the 'valse d' amelie' of tiersen and it gets to be played about 2 times per month on RP while from the Amelie soundtrack there is only one! song in the music library of RP and we hardly ever listen to it.

Bill i really think you should play E18 less times and consider adding more song from the Amelie OST, please :)

Hear, hear!
This is the song that is stuck in my dog's head.  If a melody could describe her brain waves, this is it!

Whimsy is so underrated.
This is just plain fun.

Can't explain why I like this, especially the very beginning, but I do.
uuu, like the song =) thought it was something from Amelie that I somehow missed while listening to the soundtrack!

and, then, reading comments, found this:

so, adding my vote for including more songs from Amelie to RP, and playing them more often! ;)
i love this. can't think of music happier than this. it reminds me of when my son was a baby, crawling all over the floor at break-neck speed.
I like the sound of accordion, it reminds me of the old Paris or simply post-war France. The piano and the drums are light, it is a good song, I like :) except maybe the part that sound a tad bit too much like a video game background music, therefore only 7 from me
Whimsical and quirky.  I like it...
this would make a nice little ballet.

I agree with the comment below, but in much smaller lettering.

Yeahh
completly Tiersen's land

Whimsical

Orsonwellsian.

After hearing this song, I went to the computer to see who this was and rate them down, but I found out that I had already done this.  Oh well, at least it's not a polka.
Very very annoying.

" perfect pitch "   tossed the banjo into a dumpster and it landed in the middle of an accordion....both insterments are beautiful if played well.
Too Tiersenesque...

I think there is more than a nod in this song, it's more a kneeling on all fours and chanting "We're not worthy".

{#Yes}
Another little gem from another culture. One of the main reasons I love RP.
Is the accordion player having a seizure? Or am I?

Please make it stop!{#Rolleyes}

I love this song. Such a fun journey
Sounds like a mix of Yann Tiersen and Beirut, love it.
Regrettably this song doesn't have the longevity of other pieces (like La valse d'Amelie, which this is often compared to). I can understand how some poeple like it for its sparse instrumentation but the fundamental theme of the piece just isn't sufficient to hold things together.

It's nice and tinkly though, sometimes everyone likes nice and tinkly. (I just mute it and listen to Amelie's Waltz. :-)
(and yes, remarkably similar to The Guild's intro music!)
Sounds a bit like Beirut to me.....I like!!
Don't get the hate there, guys. This is a lovely take on, if I'm not mistaken, a traditional folk song...and another one that I probably won't acquire but will identify in some years, "Oh, yeah, I used to hear that on Radio Paradise."
 anumidium wrote:

No.  With a plastic children's circus you get plastic little clowns you can set on fire.

Love this song!  Is this from the final scene in the movie "Amelie"?
I was thinking the same thing!  You go, Codex!

I just recently discovered Detektivbrån for myself (I live in Sweden). Should have known that RP has already played this years ago. :)

One of those songs that causes me to rush to the RP web site to give it a lousy rating.  How annoying!  Sounds like a bad ring tone.

Quirky but fun; Is that what 'Air' would sound like if they tried to make an acoustic album featuring accordions and triangles?

Liking it though!

Gotta say, I like this song a lot. It reminds me of the film Amelie...a film I absolutely adore.

Accordions remind me of France, and that just makes me happy.

My 2.77 Euros. YMMV.

It is very similar. The Guild theme is a lot simpler tho, almost like someone tried to make a MIDI version of this song's intro.  But it's different enough that I'd chalk it up to synchronicity.

Yann Tiersen?

This is really strange and has bells, which of course, means I love it!{#Lol}
Hey Bill...for help with your butchery of Swedish...just say Detective Bureau, then add an 'n' to the end...you'll be really close then.
8!!  I like it!! Sounds a lot like Yann Tiersen!!!{#Bananapiano}
The beginning very much reminds me of the intro to The Guild.
