The NPR article blames misinformation — which is understandable given the vast amount of misinformation that came out of Trump and pro-Trump circles.

But maybe that is not entirely the case.  Maybe this is somewhat akin to the recreational gateway drug hypothesis.  Panel data with US high school students convincingly show tobacco to precede marijuana and cocaine experimentation as well as heavier use of marijuana and cocaine.  Perhaps it is not the tobacco per se but rather all variables are being driven by socio-economic status.

My best guess on this is that you could replace the percentage who voted for Trump with some index of socio-economic status and the correlation would be much tighter.    Talking socio-economic status is verboten in US politics but perhaps it would preferable to endless and extremely destructive partisan polarization.

What Biden Isn’t Saying About Trump’s Positive Covid Test

This week, we learned that Donald Trump had tested positive for Covid before his first presidential debate with Joe Biden. He may well have been positive, and infectious, during his Rose Garden celebration with his final Supreme Court nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, as well as during his meeting with Gold Star military families.

Trump appears to have exposed dozens, if not hundreds, of people, including his 77-year-old opponent, to a potentially deadly illness. It was a remarkable demonstration of his selfish indifference to the health and welfare of everyone around him. And in the same way that he refused to act on his own infection — until it was almost too late — he also refused to act to stem a pandemic that, at the time of his positive test, had killed more than 200,000 Americans.

No pass.  If he did anything illegal, throw his ass in jail.

The big difference in attention is that he's not running for office, or pulling the strings for one of the 2 parties in the country.

If we heard from Trump as much as we hear from Clinton right now... nobody would "go after" Donnie.

7 Things You Need To Know About Trump And Sex Slave Island

FTA: Johnson “claims Trump raped her when she was 13-years-old and forced her to engage in sex acts by threatening to harm her and her family,” notes The Independent UK. “She claims the alleged abuse took place over a four-month period at underage sex parties held in New York City in 1994.” Epstein was also named for alleged sexual misconduct and threats.

October 28, 2002 article:

Jeffrey Epstein: International Moneyman of Mystery

FTA: Epstein likes to tell people that he’s a loner, a man who’s never touched alcohol or drugs, and one whose nightlife is far from energetic. And yet if you talk to Donald Trump, a different Epstein emerges. “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,” Trump booms from a speakerphone. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”
