Bit of a global phenomenon. Here in Europe there is a radicalised group of relatively wealthy people who fear their social position is slowly getting eroded as wealth distribution becomes more extreme between the 1% and the 99%. So they hit out at groups lower on the pecking order.. immigrants, the unemployed, other beneficiaries etc. because they still want to identify with the wealthy and are in denial that their position is slowly becoming untenable as wealth accumulates with the mega rich.
Just saw a news interview with a woman who owns an RV Park on the Guadalupe that is completely wiped out. There's no way she can make any revenue. Yet the Fed directed her to contact the SBA and take out a loan for 4% interest to rebuild, which she and her husband would have to pay back.The implication being: No FEMA funds to help. Nothing. She was shocked and crying. Small Business owners who were tired of paying income taxes while Bezos/Zucks/Musk practically pay nothing will be crushed in this 'you're on your own' ethos.
