I thought you'd be my streetcar named desire
My way--my taste of wine
I thought you'd be that flame within the fire
One dream that just won't die

All night--out looking for new love
Impossible true love--nothing at all
Looking for new gods--looking for new blood
Looking for you

I thought I'd find you walking in the rain
Just like a wayward child
I thought I'd find you calling out my name
So foolish is my pride

All night--looking for new love
Impossible true love--nothing at all
Looking for new ways--looking for strange blood
Looking for you

I thought I'd be your streetcar named desire
Your man--the one you seek
I thought I'd take you deep within myself
Subtitles when we speak

Hold on--the flower says reach out
The thunder says no shout is greater than mine
Listen and hold on--till the day fades out
Smothered in gold.

Is it me or does he sound a bit like Roy Orbison here? I'm new to Bryan Ferry. Cool tune {#Daisy}
I usually overlook this track when listening to this disk so it's good to hear here. BTW, I try to plant a few trees every year. Good for Bryan.

No - conservative is sort of like your Republicans
You probably don't like my politics either, but can I still listen?  Gosh thanks.
Great textures and layers to this song, and the harmonica at the end is nice. Cool song.

The foxes don't like it much either. Fred Riley has also derided Brian's political views; here in North America we don't hear much about that side of Mr Ferry. It is rather unsettling when an artist you admire has opinions that turn your stomach. {#Think}

I think Bryan Ferry has had one of the more interesting careers in music and Frantic is an excellent album.  This song is an instant classic — it could have been recorded in the '70s, but it still doesn't sounded dated.  That's not easy to pull off.

Great music, but his right wing politics stink.  And he son is a big supporter of fox hunting.  Which we don't like very much here in the UK

He's a conservative?  Fantastic!  I thought there was something I liked about him.  How refreshing to discover that someone who's music you've been fond of is not a liberal.

Kind of like watching Megan Kelly on Fox news.

Sorry you blokes don't like his politics - wouldn't the world be great if everyone would simply fall into your line of thinking
the fellow is a terrific artist and musician - let it go at that

i detest ted nugent's politics - doesn't matter
His music does nothing for me

Yea, I'm with you on that though I really like the Nug's stuff from the 70's.
Thank goodness I am spared the anxiety of deciding whether or not this is my favorite song.
can't yer just forget about politics for a minute ................ great tune Paradise :)

And some comeback that would be!

RIP, Herbert Khaury.
I haven't heard this before...{#Whistle}{#Smile}  Wild that Ferry & Eno and all are still turning it out...

Sweet and sublime. {#Good-vibes}
Bryan being Bryan, sure fine.
Bryan channeling Orbison, nah.

This sounds like Tiny Tim making a comeback.  Sorry.

I came in here to rate this a 2, and then saw that I had already done so. I guess my opinion hasn't changed.

How nice to hear just the first few notes and know that a treat was in store. Be nice to hear some of the Dylan covers too.

Godlike, nothing else!!!

Shades of Roy Orbison...
My thoughts exactly! pbm
An interesting way to create a song, and it really works. Start with a drum machine and repetitive electronica, and then add one organic element, a voice. It's pretty cool.
Shades of Roy Orbison...
Excellent.
I absolutely love Bryan Ferry's voice. Ahhhhhhh.....
Nice song.
This is making me Frantic!
Goat farm. That could be a theme
This sounds like it belongs in an Italian Western.. I like!
tiny tim??

Tiny Tim was, and still is, a huge influence.
killer tune....radio paradise rocks....
Reminds me of a song by Sophie Zelmani, a duet, something about "dream about me".

Why beat on poor Casio? When I was young, far ante-Casio, I got a recorder. Couldn't play worth a lick, but it did introduce me to music and what it takes to make it. Well said. Recorder introduced me to music as well. Fortunately I mastered this instrument and then moved on to Clarinet. Knowledge of playing music broadens one's appreciation of music, musicians, life. Oh, and Brian Ferry is Fantastic! As is this song. Nice, calming melody.
I'm hearing a little Tiny Tim, personally.
Wow. Luxurious. Edit: I see that this is a collaboration with Eno. I should have guessed.
B. Ferry always makes me think of my best friend in high school: she had such a crush on him!! Now she's an old married lady, living in suburban Atlanta. I still adore her. And the memories.
"I thought"...this was a very kewl tune!
This is the first song I've heard on RP that I really don't like. His sheep's baa vibrato gives me the creeps. Please look out for Frankie Miller's glorious version of Jealous Guy.
Love Brian Ferry, very nice song! But please don't play his version of Jealous Guy
What a hook! Never heard this before. Just lovely..smoooth like "Avalon" The Casio actually adds a sort of innocence - this is my first song kind of sound - to the intro (?).

Those backing vocals sound like they are from "Please Mister Custer." Anyone remember that song?
I've never heard this before, and I love it... thanks!!!!
Wow. It sounds like he matches Roxy Music with this one. Very cool.
It sounds like he's driving a car down train tracks or tapping his Adam's apple while he's singing. Is it just me? Holy warble Batman!
Really like this song, as well as Hiroshima from the same album. Depressing when formerly great artists lose it as they age (Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, etc). I've always liked Ferry and Eno and hope they continue to come out with songs like this, at least every once in a while. Hoping my creativity and innovation doesn't fade as I grow older...
I'm afraid Ferry never really did it for me after Roxy Music. "Could it Happen to Me" beats this by a country mile.

Much much better. Time is precious. volume down
Not my favorite tune on the excellent disk but whenever I hear a Ferry/Eno collab, I'm usually happy...
that's some darn fine Casio playin'. thanks Bill!
There are much better songs from him! Why do you play this?

I just heard the cheesy keyboard intro. And it made me laugh, and I came to comment on it.

yay casiotone....bleh
Bill, what do you mean "cheesy"? This is Eno at his most brilliant (he wrote the music for Bryan on this song for Frantic)...... please listen to the lyrics..... this song used to make me cry every time i heard it.... beautiful GREAT ALBUM, GREAT PERFORMER!! THIS is why I listen to RP!
Morph it from Brian Ferry to Roxy...pleeez Love the music! Though hated his stage personality.
The snare drum beat on the 2, 2 1/2, 4 is what is SO Orbison. Nice for a song, a whole CD is another story.
:D I like it!
...Good tune BTW, all of BF is....
That quick vibrato thing he does with his voice reminds me of Kate Bush, (in that ooooooh, yessss song) which is not necessarily a bad thing. .

#-o I do not believe this. After listening daily to RP every work day since the beginning of February (eight and a half months), I finally created an account so I could post messages. And the occasion for choosing today to join was because I had a specific comment that I had to post. Which was, Yay! It's been exactly two months (August 21) since JokesandJokesandJokes posted anything at all! Thank God! What if he's gone for good? Guess we can hope... I do not believe this. It's one thing to have particular songs trigger images of folks swaying back and forth at the seafood factory, or of Linda McCartney shaking a tambourine, or of a T-shirt with a satellite dish, or of the various other images RP listeners have provided me. It's entirely something else to have nearly every song and singer he comments on permanently associated with goats, genital organs and sexual acts, rudeness, and stupidity. Jokes, if you're listening, thanks a lot. Thanks for nothing. A lot of nothing.

It's the RP hazard. Bill does too good a job tracking down the best album tracks. I've bought several disks now where the other songs may or may not have been OK, but the best were the songs heard on RP. Update: Now we can enjoy our RP faves thru the RP iTunes link. Cool!
I thought it was "Turdy point Buck" at first. Turned out to be much better.
Ferry and Eno played together with Roxy Music in the Early Seventies...What a nice Reunion
Orbison meets Eno... :sunny.gif:
This is my favorite song from this CD. Great song.
This guy could sing "On Top of Old Smokey" and make me swoon. Can't help it, love the tune.
The music from Heartbeat slowed down and sung by someone sitting on a washing machine.

first, A-M from fayetteville, welcome to radio paradise. it rawks big time. second, this b. ferry song is awesome.
Did a nice remaster of this song. Now it sounds even better :)
Tiny Tim lives.
thought this was Roy Orbison at first. much better though.
What I like about this is that Eno adds a good sonic edge to what might otherwise be another Ferry can\'t-find-any-lovin\' kinda song. And I\'m a big Ferry fan. Hope more of this sort of thing comes from them over time.
This track has Brian Eno on it!
A friend of mine once said that with Avalon, he had the ultimate product from BF. He has a good point, but this is a nice effort from a legend.
Very beautiful I bought this CD thanks to RP.The words to this song sum up the last 31 years of my life. God I miss her.
