"I'd write a letter today"
Tell the world that you would hurt yourself
Can't look in mirror much less anyone else
You try to move on from here
But you look like a ghost alive
You can't think always running in place
A lost soul that won't show his face
But I know you're just someone who's feeling all alone
You're just someone who doesn't seem to know which way to turn
If you just ask for help, if you just ask for help
First thing I'll say is you gotta love yourself
Find it hard to take
Hard to take even the best of praise
A pair of hands that became too tough
A growing armor for whatever they might touch
But I know you're just someone who's feeling all alone
You're just someone who doesn't seem to know which way to turn
If you just ask for help, if you just ask for help
First thing I'll say is you gotta love yourself
But I know you're just someone who's feeling all alone
You're just someone who doesn't seem to know which way to turn
If you just ask for help, if you just ask for help
First thing I'll say is you gotta love yourself
You gotta love yourself, you gotta love yourself

Me too... creeping towards 10 with every listen.
9 --==>> 10.
C'mon, creep faster!

Seriously, this song resonates so strongly with me I'm surprised it's taken me so long to rate it "Godlike."
No, no, no. You're just a moron. Good song, though.
I've heard it both ways. 🍍
9…
Me too... creeping towards 10 with every listen.
Very lovely. Me likey. Wistful, a bit pensive, but very life affirming. I've been there. So have we all. I'll start with a 7. The next time I hear it, could be a boost.
And, up to a 9 yet?
Wasn't the boxer rebellion actually a war on drugs?
Oh my God!!! That was the best post ever!!! Thanks!
I know my ears aren't what they once were thanks to really good music played loud, but I keep hearing "you're just a moron" instead of "you're just someone" . Time for hearing aids, or am I onto something here?
I heard that forever and seriously thought the song was about the dude in the White House at the time 😂
Still the most profound lesson - or truth - of all.
As RuPaul says, "If you can't love yourself, how in the Hell can you love someone else? Can I get an Amen?!"
Just upped this from an 8 to a 9.
Just upped mine from 7 to 8 after reading the lyrics again. Good tune.

Brilliant post, the non-photographic reference of which will be lost on most people. Which is no reason not to post it.

Wasn't the boxer rebellion actually a war on drugs?
I came on here for the very same reason!

This song is resonating so strongly with me these days.
Welcome to the family. Your musical galaxy has just exploded. I've loved RP for 16+ years. a constant in my house and at work
Thank you! It's been a wonderful ride. RP's is great companion.
Welcome aboard! RP has been constant friend in every job I've had over the decade or more. It's been a really welcome source of new and forgotten music to this close-minded music grump. Cheers, friend!
Thank you! - "New and forgotten" you said... and that is exaclty what RP is all about.

This gets better every time I hear it.
It's superb and needs more recognition. The first track is a stunner...

Nice shot, OTB
Absolutely, friend. Wonderful album from start to finish.
great song indeed.
Now, after reading your post, it sounds like he's saying "you're just a moron..." to me; he does have an odd way of pronouncing "someone". Cool tune.
Sounds like moron to me too.
Kudos for a) LOVING yourself and b) a great nickname.....Long Live StfuDonny….and RP!!
I was visiting my doctor, and he said look, you have to love yourself.
I said,
come on doc, I'm up to 3 times a day.

I did that already !! 6 - 8 after a coupla listens ;D
Oh wow. I was at that show. In fact, I saw the seizure. :-(
Kudos for them for continuing on, and they made the best of it. It really goes to show you how much bass adds to the live experience, but I enjoyed what they were able to put together.
Agreed 100% on this track...I just went 9→10 on it...sometimes the message/meaning of a song transcends the music itself (like Lennon's "Imagine" for instance) and that's the case w/ me on this one.
Now, is 'cracker' a good thing...as in should I obtain the album? Long Live RP!! And hopefully BnR love RP as much as we do ;-)

You're just a mome rath outgribing in the wabe.
not a rip-off but close.

Pretty much took the 'typed words off my keyboard' there kingart....100% agreement...and I did boost my 7→9 today. And now I want to hear the full album yet the Amazon Music App only had this one track available from the album....odd....oh well....LONG LIVE RP!!
wha?
It sounds like to me that at least half the times he sings it. Worked its way into my head and I had to look up the lyrics to even figure out what he was really saying.
I suppose it sounds like Yanny to you? ;P

wha?

Maybe The Boxer Rebellion is sending a message to The War on Drugs?

Good eye. The resemblance is eerie.
