All the fear has left me now
I'm not frightened anymore
It's my heart that pounds beneath my flesh
it's my mouth that pushes out this breath

and if I shed a tear I won't cage it
I won't fear love
and if I feel a rage I won't deny it
I won't fear love

Companion to our demons
they will dance, and we will play
With chairs, candles, and cloth
making darkness in the day
It will be easy to look in or out
upstream or down without a thought

and if I shed a tear I won't cage it
I won't fear love
and if I feel a rage I won't deny it
I won't fear love

Peace in the struggle
to find peace
comfort on the way
to comfort

and if I shed a tear I won't cage it
I won't fear love
and if I feel a rage I won't deny it
I won't fear love
I won't fear love
I won't fear love...

Sarah. But darned close to Celine on this one, agree.

No
Celine?
There is almost no way to describe the things that she does with the power of her voice in this song. This is for her immortality, for sure!
She got too treacly for me but I saw Sarah a few times in the late 80s/early 90s... she was really terrific with a very muscular band. First time I encountered her was as an opening act for Joan Baez and she really made an impression.

definitely NOT in a good way...    Lyrics are too dark for me.  ... personally; I won't fear Love either...    but I will fear what can kill my body and my soul.  ...   (like candles, cloths, and screeching wailing invocations let's just say?) .   yikes.
Sarah McLachlan could sing a phone book, and I'd probably still like it!
(But if she did, would the phone company get a percentage of the royalties?)
Peace in the struggle

to find peace

comfort on the way

to comfort

What more could one ask for?
Incredible album, incredible talent.

Thanks for helping me understanding what I feel about this song!
bodacious

adjective bo·da·cious bō-ˈdā-shəs

: very good or impressive

: sexually attractive

.. yes, she qualifies

This song agrees with me a great deal when I'm stoned. {#Roflol}

Nice!  I'll put it on my pod.

Superb.  Not hearing any problems with this one.

Yes, totally pointless solo. The song is also way too uninspiring.
worst guitar solo ever!!
It sounds like the guitar is intruding from some other concert somewhere else.
Sounds like  SArah, the guitar and the percussion are all out of sync. :-/
Eeeee GAD! That's a fuckin' good tune! WOW!!!

Yeah, Neil's lyrics are great!  His drumming isn't too shabby, either.

fumbling is the right word for this... boring!

C'mon - what could be more profound than:

And I've been takin' care of business everyday
Takin' care of business every way
I've been takin' care of business it's all mine
Takin' care of business and working overtime
Workout

fumbling would be an understatement

Fumbling towards listenability, but not quite making it

Is it me, or does she seem a half-beat behind the percussion in this? Nice song and nice singer, mind, so no complaint.

I don´t say no, this is a great one.

This song and specifically this version is my fave SM, so much good.

LOL!     That is so off, it is simply hilarious.

BTW, not all quebecoises are straight-laced goody-two-shoes like Celine.

Yes, I agree. It is a rough transition.  Love both.

Sarah's music shows more than a few 'prog rock' influences to say the least.

One of the highlights from the Mirroball DVD, along with "Possession".

I like her ... but yes, that shrill at the end is a bit annoying. She hasn't the vocal crank-icity to lay it out like that.
Would love to have Lilith Fair take place here in Halifax!

Such a good song, live or memorex doesn't matter.
Really, really, REALLY good...

David Sinclair, I think.

Love this song, but this is not my favorite version. The timing is funky, and keeps one from being able to effectively chair dance.  :(  Still, Sarah is one of my all time favorites, and can really do no wrong in my book.
Was thinking this is a very nice live version of this song, maybe even better than the studio track. Then the guitar solo kicked in. I find guitar solos in her songs hard to take seriously, just because they seem there to create an impression of edginess. Still, this song is beautiful.

6:51 pm - Sarah McLachlan - Fumbling Towards Ecstasy (Live) 6:35 pm - Pink Floyd - Us & Them -> Eclipse 6:32 pm - Gary Jules - Mad World Best three-song set I've heard on here in quite a while! Keep it up!
That woman's voice melts my soul.
Don't think I'd ever heard that before! 8 outta the box.
Maybe ya had to be there. I much prefer the (less histrionic) studio version.
great song, great performance.

Would have loved to have been there...........superb!

Simply "Wow"!
Wow... and not in a good way. I LOVE the original, really not fond of this version... Maybe in person it feels right but recorded this doesn't cut it to my ears... Different strokes...
eww
I think Sarah is definitely a talented singer. This song, however, is just not one that does it for me in the way that some of her music does.
Ah Sarah, you are my very favorite earth muffin!!
Check out the Mirrorball live DVD. It's excellent.
This is amazing live. Quite often she ends her concerts with this song.

Of course this is great but I wouldn't mind seeing a wasted roadie stumble up and unplug a couple instruments.
