The further and further out I drift
Get swept out in the rip tide
Where part of me wants to lie
'neath the waves of sorrow and tears
Sink to the bottom and linger there
The rest of my tears
Walk amongst the mossy bones
Of my fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers
Feel their blood flow Lost sometime ago
Now I'm stranded on the mountain's edge
And there's only one way back down...
And down I go
Into the ground where the bad seeds are sown luck's gone and there's no more breaks
Just the ground beneath that shakes and gives way
Swallowed up whole, there ain't much now I can pull

I had a Irish friend and we were at a bike race when a couple nice looking young ladies were hiking and stopped and were talking to us. One had a very charming accent and my friend turn on the Irish charm and says "So, what part of Australia might you be from"?  She stares dagger through him and answers "And what part of ENGLAND, might you be from"?

Yeah, I know. The whole thing was tongue-in-cheek, an overreaction chock full of incorrect facts & misguided notions, like many sensational internet headlines. I thought the "Bowling Green" reference would make it obvious, but that is the essence of Poe's Law ("If you submit a satiric item without this symbol [;-)], no matter how obvious the satire is to you, do not be surprised if people take it seriously.") Too clever for my own good.
Reminds me of 'Spaghetti' Western Movies like this...

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Oh my god...how I'm looking forward to see them on stage in August this year. {#Bananajam}{#Drummer}{#Bananapiano}

Not their best song for me, but still always a pleasure to listen to :) Lyrics are missing

Are you thinking of "The Third Man"? That movie and its chase scene through the sewers took place in Vienna. Orson Welles was in "Touch of Evil" as a corrupt sheriff from Texas working a case in Tijuana and I don't recall his character running in sewers—way too fat for that.

He's thinking of the re-make filmed by Robert Rodriguez
Hey! I had no idea there was a Calexico live album. Cheers RP!

Such a good live cut....

What a great segue from Al Stewart -- Bravissimo, Bill!
Cool song! In Baja, there's a big copper mine visible from the road between San Felipe and Ensenada, near the turn-off for Mike's Sky Ranch; it's a spooky enigmatic place, in the middle of what looks like the surface of The Moon, or Mars. My ex-bro in law worked there.
They played in Wellington (NZ) a few nights ago, and killed.
I have got to see this band live!! When are they next coming to Europe, France or Switzerland?
LOVE this! Wish I could see them. Wonder if they ever come to The Netherlands.
Going to see them 2nite at The Majestic in downtown Detroit- ya baby!
I lived in Calexico most my life or i should say a large portion of , nevertheless, point on.

And yep,, they were great!
Thanks for the link - will have to download when not at work!
Tickets purchased to see them in Bristol in a couple of weeks - anticipation building!

I too have been wondering where to get this recording.  I've been blown away by this superb performance of Minas de Cobre that I heard right here on RP!  I've Googled a few times but couldn't really find anything about this recording.  I gave it another try last night, and — success!!  I'm about halfway through listening to it and it does not disappoint!  Great setlist, great performance, and a great recording too — and it's FREE!

Here is the download link — They have it in a number of formats; the "Lossless ZIP" option is in FLAC format (nearly 700 MB but worth it).

Whew, the ABBA is over. Now this I like.  8.

Calexico playing the China Theater in Stockholm, Sweden, and I'm almost hearing an Italian Western.
Wait, is that El Mariachi Antonio jumping the compound wall with his guitar case assault rifle?
Nice fun music.

I'd never heard these guys before discovering RP either. Now I'm a big fan. I hope they come to my neck of the woods soon — I'd love to experience their music live & in person.
Calexico's German horn player is the hottest looking guy I've ever seen.

Very nice transition indeed, from Vlatko Stefanovski & Miroslav Tadic to this.  Each melodic but haunting acoustic guitar, vivante crescendo al fino
me encanta :)

El Kabong!!!! (edit: july 28) I have since learned how right this was. Calexico does the music for the special version of El Kabong Boomerang plays near the end of the segments to fill in time.
