Maybe if this song were half as long I'd like it more. As it is, the beat is similar to watching a dog scratch behind his ears with his back paws. After a while you just want it to stop
It's impossible to be sad listening to this. Impossible not to DANCE too!
This is too cool!

Try pig of milk!

Cochon de Lait literally translates from French to English as "pig in milk", or it is called a "suckling pig". A Cochon de Lait is basically a cajun pig roast of a whole young pig. The pig is slow roasted for 6 to 12 hours. That is what makes a Cochon de Lait an event rather than just cooking a meal. It's an extended "male bonding", "story telling", "bull shooting", "beverage of your choice drinking", "fire tending" event !
...and like most Cajun family reunions, a great place to find a wife. Oh that's just wrong!
Oh man, this set of songs is really kickin'!

love the album cover!
Me too, but spare me this type of music thanks....
Okay, with this song Santa's Big Band performing another song with a different singer than in Young Dubliners' "What do you want from me".
One great Cajun/Zydeco group I used to love had a CD called "Burnin' Up the Tracks." :bananajam:
I feel like I'm listening to Prairie Home Companion. And that's a good thing.
Merci pour la info - tres interesting! troubadour27 wrote:

It would be so nice to have some/more ZYDECO music!
I'll second that! And that CD cover is hilarious.

Why this consistent need among listeners here to reduce everything down to so&so is better than those others? Bullshit ! If its not total crap, its all good! BeauSoleil are dynamite by any standard.
Do you know La Bottine Souriante? Have you heard them? Beausoleil is good ( I would not have uploaded the song now would I?), but LBS is better  and that's my opinion. It seems that Dirty Linen shares it as well as they proclaimed LBS the "greatest band in the World". Comparison is unavoidable, coz people do have preferences, it does not diminish the quality of Beausoleil, there is just something better ;-)

I agree (but they are still good enough) Another band is La Bottine Souriante. One song of them is in the RP répertoire, but it has not been played yet.... (after a year or so) yet way better than Beausoleil ... Oh well

There's much better Cajun/Zydeco to choose from than this, I'm sure. I've never been impressed by BeauSoleil.

can't keep my feet still... oh no... can't keep anything still..... cochon a go go..
There's something a little too *clean* about this recording, huh? How about some Buckwheat Zydeco?

Yep! They keep a crowd on their feet. Michael Doucet (fiddler) keeps a constant smile on his face! It's obvious that they love what they do, and they do it well!
A band that's having a good time is infectious.,,something like the Levellers.always great live...but then listening at home is sometimes a letdown. Some great live bands aren't really interesting in the livingroom. :(

Cochon de lait is a piglet ;-)
Well, I hate to pooh-pooh the song. What's next, crepes de eeyore?
Sad to say, this tune, the following Jambalaya and Creedence doing Born on the Bayou, make up RP's Cajun/Zydeco set/collection. It would be so nice to have some/more ZYDECO music!
It's a tasty suckling pig.

I heard this band in concert two weeks ago. I never wanted to dance as much as I did that night. They are among the royalty of Cajun music. These guys rock, and so does this song.
