Behold, a sweet spot of the late '90s

That's what i'm saying!

I don't normally like to leave negative comments, but this is boring.
Just took a hit, this sounds good..
I don't like this. And I don't really care for the occasional classical orchestra piece. But I love that RP plays both, and everything in between.

One day I heard a Phish cover of a Velvet Underground song that had been recorded two weeks earlier in Virginia, which I loved. That same day, I heard a Benny Goodman cover of a Louis Prima song from 1937 that my grandmother remembers from her youth, which I also loved.

That is why I listen to RP.
Brings back memories of my teenage days pumping this tune through my stereo.

A moment to reflect, MassivRuss. Although RP is amazingly eclectic, can there be any doubt that listeners have some expectations regarding the programming? Not so much a categorical limitation as an esthetic one: Inventive, amusing, beautiful house or trance would be widely accepted, as would kiddie pop or rap - if it had some obvious redeeming quality. This example is, for my ear, not one of those. I could get a steady stream of these blips and beats on the half-dozen somafm.com stations devoted to various flavors of electronica (and I sometimes do.) Generally I expect not to hear any of the categories I mentioned earlier on RP unless the individual examples are gems.

Where did this expectation originate?

By listening to, and becoming familiar with, the excellent curation of Bill and Rebecca Goldsmith. We've become accustomed to their ear. When a slight discoloration unnoticeable in the jumble of other stations' offerings tints the flow, it's felt immediately. I'd have to support Collen's assertion, as would the rating graph. You may violently object to Cake for some reason (that I'll never understand), but their consistently high ratings reflect the quality and musicianship on display and obvious to most listeners.

As Collen said,"I listen to RP so i don't have to listen to this" - which is very different from "You can't play this, I'm leaving." We all have reason to listen to RP, but also reason to recognize an inferior bottle in the cellar. A testament to the training we've received at the knee of our hosts.
Horrible
Trace on... with a little tongue in cheek, no?
{#Cool}

Nice...
Will this ever end?
LIKE!  Nice grooves, good atmosphere.  Relaxing, whimsical, dreamy.

What's "early morning" to one person is "late night" to another.
Had to get out of the shower to kill this this one....
instant headache {#Frustrated}

Then you have no reason to listen to RP. There are worlds of music on RP: in at least one of those worlds, a listener can find what can't be found anywhere else. It's not here for every single listener to find only their own little island.
And me without my glow sticks...
Nice one!  Play some Underworld later, eh?
too early in the morning for this {#No}
as a trance music lover , this is very nice

all you listners out there - open youre mind   some exelent stuff going on at the least expected places{#Dance}
Trance like and I like this...in smaller doses. It's just the way RP handles this. I truly appreciate the variety here in this place. Where else can I hear something like this along with Nina Simone and then Arcade Fire...? No where folks. This is a great place to be! Thanks, Bill and Rebecca!
I listen to RP so i don't have to listen to this {#Taped-shut}
It seems we are not in Paradise{#Fire}
I would never buy this, but I love hearing it on RP. It's brilliant in its style, I think.

I don’t usually go for terchno but this is not bad. Thanks RP for keeping it eclectic. Always fun to hear something new.

Okay, did someone kidnap Bill?
Just the right time of night, in just the right kind of mood and weariness level. Likey!
Wow...I VERY rarely turn my speakers off while listening to RP all day but just did.  I'd give this a minus rating if I could.
Anyone else hear GE ~ Twilight Zone running through this ?
6 for now.
Ugh.  It sounds like a migraine.
Wow, ratings are all over the place for this one. I'll start it at 7 and see where we go from there
A very steep fall from Jeff Buckley...

Really great to hear it played here but miffed at the low ratings. This is an excellent track is it not? 5.3? Good grief, just turn it up let it sink into your head and dance like a nutter. Just follow me. . .
RIP Donna Summer.
Very chill I think
Oh man!  I love Fluke and own this album.  I am shocked to see it's been sitting on the RP shelf since 2004... (at least that's when someone last posted a comment)  And silly me!  I've never realized until now that that is a Kitchen Aid mixer on the cover art!!  Sadly you would not use it to make risotto......if only it were that easy!
Big Url rocks! Same great taste and more fat than ever!

Funny timing... I was listening to Groove Salad, and switched to RP because the GS song had an extremely subtle (subliminal perhaps) phone ringing sound that was making my brain hurt. So I switch over...and I'm grooving along... ... and then I stop to think...hey, is this RP?? Check the playlist - and yes, this electronic groove is RP. Ride that groove, Electronica Bill. You make my brain warm and fuzzy. ;-)

This is getting geometrically better by the listen. It's a perfect sci-fi number - doesn't need lyrics at all. Ahh yes, now on to some weenie Coldplay nasal drippings...
:chillpill.gif:
This could be an IMAX soundtrack... Until then, I'll just make my own images.
john like
8) Very Chill. Keep this and more "Fluke" coming please!
WHOLE buncha recent uploads, I guess. Never heard some of this stuff. All 6's for now. Gotta go, COLDPLAY just came on....

I like it - gave it an 8 - sometimes, the electronica/groove thang doesn't do it for me, sometimes it does... obviously an 8 means today it does! And only 2 tracks before it, Pink Floyd's Cirrus Minor... what can I say - very cool... and only on RP! :bounce: Keep up the great work Bill! -Roger :motor:

Maybe it was something I ate for lunch or maybe it's this song, but seriously I'm getting really nauseous.
The syeestem, is DOWN. The syeestem, is DOWN. Doo Doo Da Doo Doo! Doo Doo Da Doo Doo! Yechh
lighten up people, I'm sure there's an FM radio neaby you if you really want to hear the same old stuff...
How long IS this song?
These guys also do the music played during the "Zion Orgy" scene in Matrix Reloaded.
Where is my X?

3 minutes of music packed into 10.
decent album.
wow "music from the hearts of space" on RP.......pass that doobie, dude

Interesting. A little meditative, repetitive. Think techno-trance. I like a little more substance to my music than this, but good workstuff. Here's something that bothers me about RP ratings. This is obviously a new track, when I hit the page, I saw '2 votes' 'Average is 7' 'Lowest rating 5, highest rating 10' - that had to be within 10 seconds of the track first starting. I have -never- rated anythign on RP a 10. Okay, maybe Sing Sing Sing is a 10, but absolutism, either positive or negative, just kills a scale. I can't htink of any goofy techno-trance piece like this being the absolute most god-like creation on the planet. Vote realistically, folks :)
