Waiting for the break......
It started out sounding like Brubeck's Take Five!
Jazzy! Have not heard this here in quite a while.
Another first here at R.P.  This is hypnotic, groovy...and almost repetitive.  Looped lounge caffeine shop Moby Ocean 11 music. Dance thy ass off, then sit down and wonder what in hell you've been doing for the last 28 minutes.
Saletta style! vecchia scuola.... fufils come se piovesse!
Y'know, I have a crappy ear for lyrics, and I heard "I want you to get together" perfectly fine. Not sure what y'all are listening to. {#Eh}

Glad to be of service!!
Stop! Stop! I'll tell you everything you want to know. Just stop this torture!

first time I heard this tune I thought the loop vocals were saying... "I want you to get the gimp..." as in the gimp from the movie Pulp Fiction. If you listen it still kinda sounds like that...and yes my friends still laugh at me for that one.

Um, the needle's stuck.
We play this tune in my band... but in a different way which is more "Funkadelic" with big reverbs on my trumpetist... hey hey, they are french...
Yeah, this is a pretty good jam..Brubeck all over it. Love the previous thoughts on this tune and especially that video...I want you to get together! \:D/

Yes. :nodhead: Thanks for turning me on to it.
I'd like to congratulate whoever made that stormtrooper gif..... that's truly a stroke of genius.
Groovitude. That trumpet or sax or something is a bit strange though. I find that "I want you to get together" gets a little repetetive
Well, it's great you all like this tune. Really. Because the beat is Brubeck and Desmond. That's what y'all're groovin' to. But I stand by my earlier comment. What ticks me off is that RP won't even play the original. In fact, they've only played one Brubeck tune. The only good thing about this sampling rip-off is that Brubeck must have made some money from it.
Ooooo... I LIKE this!
Just the kind of groove I needed. Thanks Bill!

It's my favorite too. Just take this: https://c.myspace.com/00065/10/12/65862101_l.gif highlight it and hit the 'Img' button above. so it reads: without the quotes.

When a jazz musician shoots smack and snorts coke at the same time....you get....this.

Ah done tol' ya.... 'nuff already! Stop whangin' the cymbal! 8)

I'd rather like them to tear it apart. E.g. the sax lick could have been used (provided it was not already stolen from somewhere else) in some *interesting* tune. This one is waaay too repetitive and boring. Nice try, RP, but now kick it off the playlist please...
6.5? Wow. Not that high for me, thanks. Maybe if it had, like, six MORE words in it, I'd like it better. . . . Or maybe none. Instrumental is cool, too. This is an odd (and, to me, much-too-repetitive) compromise. *edit* Wait--I guess it has eleven or twelve words. Still either not enough or too many.
Cool Every cell of my body is groovin to this song!
I just plain love that song. It's a definite groove--moving on a theme, and making it work. The horns are divine.

It is not monotony... it is pure entrainment... rhythmic repetition that, when one places attention upon it, draws one into a deeply entranced hypnogogic state of being. Yeah!
In other words, should not be played during normal business hours.

Agreed - and great background/mingling noise at a party.

Ersatz jazz. Why not listen to the orginal? What's with that silly voice in the background? I don't see this as adding much in the way of musical ideas, just a way of feeding off someone else's greatness. If you like this, but don't listen to real jazz too much, go back to Brubeck and Desmond. And if you like the sax in this, try some Coleman Hawkins or Ben Webster or Johnny Hodges. It's the real thing.
St. Germain is off the charts, very creative. Makes my day.
If I am not mistaken this track is also on a Morcheeba compilation that they put out of their favorite afterhours music.
Driving home today, I had this CD on and was thinking how strong every track is! Wouldn't have ever heard this guy without RP's broad playlist.
Too coo' fo' schoo'. Nice groove.
This entire album was great....genre breaker....acid jazz and all that too...alot of very subtle samples from jazz greats to John Lee Hooker riffs...my compliments for the past 2 hours of music...VERY SOLID!!
Good background tune for work. Yes, it's repetitive. If Jazz influences can find their way back into pop music this way, it's cool... 8)
Good to hear this again...
this one tickles my right-brain every time...I love the layering-in of the instruments, and the subtle changes (real or imagined) in tempo as the song progresses....great groove from a very good album. I ran out and bought the CD after hearing it on RP...though the CD store couldn't quite figure out whether it was in their Rock or Jazz or Electronica section...I love stumping them with obscure requests for stuff I've heard on RP :-s

OMG this one sucks so much. I wonder how it made into the playlist in the first place, and then gets repeated every day. Please stop!!!

Great instrumental and yeah, the words are repetitive. I have this album and it is really good, but you gotta be in the mood. I really don't like most so-called trance, techno, ambient or whatever music. What saves this for me is that it's real as opposed to computer-generated crap.
Well said.
Great tune from an excellent album...Thanks RP !!
aaargh!!, so monotonous that after 30 seconds I started begging for it to stop and then I stopped winamp and came back 5 mins later. Pure torture.

couldn't agree more. i am far from an "electronic" music fan, but the real instruments and jazz layers make this album work for me, when i'm in the mood.
It's not bad (you know), just monotonous.

That really hurt... Sounds like something the cops would use to get you to talk. Pure torture.

Great music this afternoon. Off to PayPal now... Thanks RP!

yeah it really is. like this a lot. sounds a bit like Dave Brubeck meets Miles Davis.

You said it Lily. It's so close to being cool, then I just want it to stop. I like it, and then I just hate it.

Bought this album in Canada last year and I play it all the time. It\'s got great rhythm and energy to it, both smooth and hip - wonderful choice, Bill!

Bought St. Germain\'s Tourist album (which contains this song) as a direct result of hearing this song on Radio Paradise. I love it when RP turns me onto new groups! Whole album is great. If you like this song, you\'ll like the rest of the album.
:) Good smooth groove. Nice mix up Bill. This one\'s a keeper.
Wow. Very nice tune. Not too often I like a song the first time I hear it, but this one I like.
I must chime in my opinion that this whole album is great. And hearing this song is responsible for becoming a big fan of a large amount of new music - jazz/house, downbeat, ambient, etc.
He wants us to get together! And I want to get this together into my CD collection. Never heard this before, but I am LOVING it. Gotta buy it. An even bigger plus -- accroding to the All Music Guide, that\'s Marlena Shaw (a 70s soul/jazz goddess) saying, \"I want you to get together.\"
it\'s making me dance. i like it.

Reading the comments, it does anything but make people get together.
I will grant that there could be more lyrics... but as a newer Jazz sound.. I like this.. and reading one of the comments down below, about this being the intro to set up the rest of the album... makes me want to at least hear the next track or two.... see how the music flows. Interesting :D
After RP scrapes this off it\'s shoe, throw it away in a zip lock bag.
I want it to stop stop stop, as well. Wortn about 10 seconds as an intro to a \"real\" piece of music. Will be very happy when this settles out of the playlist.
Great sound (a little of \"Take Five\" in there?), but somebody needs to try a little harder on the lyrics
I want it to stop I want it to stop :( I want it to stop  I want it to stop
One of the best albums for me in 2001. Well worth a listen and look out for the funkiest flute in existance :p This track is the first on the album and sets the scene but there are many more gems on there. Fine choice - thanks Bill :D
this is a sample of jesse colin young, isn't it? or am i just spacin'?
