I will fly swift and true straight to you, like an arrow
Just to be where you lie
Meet my quest, do my shambling best to be near you
Where you lie
I've found peace in your arms

Gentle storm
Rage my way
Fall in love with me
Fall in love with me
Fall in love with me
Everyday

Counting down, now the clocks reset when I met you
Do we start a new life?
Yours and my spit-shone restless hearts, they were meant to
Beat one time, share one fate
From this day

Gentle storm
Rage away
And fall in love with me
Fall in love with me
Fall in love with me
Everyday

Like a hybrid of Peter Gabriel and The Blue Nile.
We luvs our weenis
Such a beautiful voice
Really starting to like these guys
I swear no two of their songs sound alike. Great vocalists/ lyrics and the band is just super talented.
Some days, I just need more Elbow room.
Brilliant as expected from Elbow…

Amazing!

I like this very much too.  It's real artistry.

Sounds to me like you had already checked out and were looking for the Start Button.

Meh. The lack of instrumentation just seems so self-indulgent.

Trying a bit too hard for the simile there, mate.

Thanks for the chuckle.

I actually rather like this song and i think its sad people assume my comment is negative.

This album cover makes me want to me want to be there. It makes me think of some beautiful video game world, like Journey, or Celeste.

A couple vinyl's of theirs now adorn my collection.

Why the apostrophe on vinyls? Rather possessive, aren't we?

A beautiful song. Elbow are such an excellent band. Great on stage in a small or medium and intimate venue where Guy Garvey can interact with the audience.
I really like Elbow, but this song just doesn't work for me. The melody and heartfelt lyrics are ruined by the percussion. It sounds like two separate songs competing against each other.
Sometimes this group makes me smile.  Actually, almost all the time, they make me smile. This type of talent can generate incredible envy, though...

I absolutely feel the same.

These guys are smooth

Wow, thanks for the pro tip, I love it
Both of them can also remind me of old Talk Talk <3

I saw them last Saturday at The House of Blues in San Diego. Me and maybe 3-400 other fans. Two hours of quality musicianship and TONS of fan participation. What a treat! Elbow, please come back soon!

We are lucky in the US as I think they play much larger venues in England. Saw them years ago at the 9:30 club. Great concert.

Surely one of the most distinctive current voices ?

Damn - I could (and have) listened on loop... Something about this song just hits a spot...
Lots of people love em. But no sir, I don't

This is a highly sexual song.
Despite of the song being a real nice piece of music itself (a seven for me), Bill always manages to put it in the most satisfying and pleasing context embedding it in his RPs neverending playlist. Much appreciated!
I just love this song. It transports me to different time and place...of innocence and true love. Thank you RP. Priya from Bangalore, India.
Once again, Guy and the boys are capable of melting the cold, grey rock that is my heart...
Cheap work. 0/10

Elbow are an English rock band formed in Bury in 1997. The band consists of Guy Garvey (lead vocals, guitar), Craig Potter (keyboard, piano, backing vocals), Mark Potter (guitar, backing vocals) and Pete Turner (bass guitar, backing vocals). They have played together since 1990, adopting the name Elbow in 1997.

discogs
partially agrees; they list Alex Reeves as drummer on 7 tracks on Little Fictions; two others (including this one) have a credit for Drum Programming.

Are you listening to the same song? It's not the beat, it's the singing. I give it a solid 9.

A nice melancholy sound
This always makes me think of this song. It's because of the prefab rhythm I guess.
Now it's going to be on every time I switch RP on. That's why I like RP!
love this band! thanks RP !!
What a voice!!!!!!!!!

Way over played here.

The drummer left the band. This is likely a rhythm bed.
"The Way it Is" by Hornsby has the same problem.

"The Way It Is" by Bruce Hornsby has a lot more problems to me than just its drumbeat.

The only flaw is the robotic drum loop backing which is so repetitive and boring. It may be a sample of an actual drummer but no self-respecting human drummer would play that the whole way through a song.

Absolutely not. The song is based on that rhythm. Without it, it wouldn't be this good and unique.

"if you don't know the words, sing them anyway!"    Yeah, very fun show.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse have played the past three nights in a small venue in Fresno (seats 2,000) and will play the next two in Bakersfield. I have friends who were fortunate to go to last night's Fresno show, and they all said it was fabulous.

Love the talkup on this, Bill.  Might have been a mistake but it was smooth.

Very interesting rhythm. At first I didn't like it, but now I find it unique.

I love this song so much.
Love is in the air
Well, that beat .
The beginning has some nice bar/lounge feeling, the rest I can't remember. {#Cheesygrin}

Bee's Knees
Dross. Living in the UK and trying to avoid these is a full time job. Horrible.
I dig this bit of Elbow (could enjoy it in a dark cheap lower east side joint, one of those 3 steps below street level where you almost bump into the bar on your way in and the bright eyed lady bartender takes care of you immediately, yeah gonna be a good night : )
Good band.

I just finished my first full-through listen of this album, which I thought I would really enjoy....seems like BillG has picked the few tracks that are worth playing here as I found the rest of the album not that good.  Still I will always LOVE track #1 (Magnificent (She Says)) and K2 and this track. And maybe there was another I'm forgetting.  Not being a long time Elbow fan (well...I like MY elbows a lot) I think they were better before the drummer called it quitso.

On the other hand, I just finished the same listening exercise with the newest Spoon album (Hot Thoughts) and that one totally ROCKS...it's staying in my truck's CD player for the time being.

Now just waiting a month for The War On Drugs album coming out in August....hopefully that one is as good as the 3 tracks we've heard from it.

LONG LIVE RP!!

Never tire of his beautiful voice.
Just back from Manhattan, every overpriced "lounge", particularly rooftop, plays this monotonous genre-ambiguous synth-crap.
Yep, I'm giving this one the elbow, much as I do with the rest of Elbow's oeuvre. There's a fine line between elegaic and soporific, and sadly for me Elbow induces narcolepsy {#Sleep}

Yes. These days...every day.

Not innovative, kind of synthetic, and one for endless repetition on commercial radio.
Love Elbow, but I can't help but feel like their getting a bit more tedious with each album. Alone in the Back to Seldom Seen Kid are all 10/10 albums.
Digging this tune too - look forward to sitting down with the whole album!
