I live out in the woods
People I got wolves' blood in my veins
I live way out in the woods
People you know I've got wolves' blood in my veins
Well you know the crocodiles and the foxes and the grizzles
They all know me by my name

When I was just a little boy
I used to play around with rattlesnakes
Well, when I was a little boy
I used to crawl around in the grass with rattlesnakes
Now I'm a full grown man
Alligators is my associates

Let me explain this

I still live way out in the woods
People you know I ain't afraid of nothin'
I live way out in the woods
An people you know I ain't afraid of nothin'
The bogeyman start runnin'
When he heard me commin'

I sleep with one eye open
And I don't ever leave no trail
Well yeah I sleep with one eye open
And I don't ever leave no trail
If you come into my woods
You just might, loose your tail

'Cause I love them tails
Fox tails
Pig tails

Robert Randolph is no slouch either!
We live about 15 minutes from Buddy Guy's Legends. Seen some awesome music there over the years. Including Buddy. He is a legend in flyover country. And one of the last connections to the real Delta Blues musicians.
Just so damn good.

When I was just a little boy
I used to play around with rattlesnakes
Well, when I was a little boy
I used to crawl around in the grass with rattlesnakes
Well CPS came along one day
And our asses they did take
Don't mess with me, until they mandate a jab and I'll crumble like all and sundry

Because the whole idea of the comment section is to like comment.  It says it right up there .  See?

Don't be so damn condescending.

I saw him at the King Eddy in Calgary, AB.CA
I have tickets for me and my hubby to see Mr. Guy in May(?) at the same venue I took him to in 2000. It was our 2nd of many shows we saw together in the last 21 years.
Blues lyrics:

Verse 1: Statement
Verse 2: Statement is repeated
Verse 3: Witty explanation of statement
Verse 4: that continues into Verse 4

Mom, what's a metaphor?
"My life is a train wreck".
I know mum, but what's a metaphor?
We got tickets to his April 3 2022 show. Same venue that I took my, now, husband to see Mr Guy 21 years ago. Our 2nd concert together, first was Alro Guterie in Pittsburgh, I've drug him to many more over the years. As I say, "We see obscure artist in small venues."

Of course there's blues-based rock-n-roll which I do like.
So I don't care for the root, but I'm more into the fruit.

Because this is the comment section where listeners are invited to express their opinions about the song being played.  In this case, the listener expresses an opinion and a reason for said opinion.  Better than "this sucks" or "my ears are bleeding".  Now quit being so condescending and understand that not everyone may share your point of view about everything.  I'll bet that you aren't such an ass with your co-workers when they disagree with you.  Try using that same sense of decency here.  And try some listening and understanding.  It'll make the world a nicer place.

Started at a 7. Raised to 8 before the song ended. That slide guitar is something.
i seriously doubt he did any of those/these things......song is a pack of lies!

I'd like to be poetic.  What's a poetic license cost in Louisiana?
Not a blues fan but this smells like Louisiana swamp in a very pleasant way.
Awesome voice and guitar.
Not usually my kind of music but, damn, that guitar playing is gorgeous!
Saw him in a recent interview with Dan Rather. He seems like a really decent and humble legend.

In 2005 or so, went to a Dylan concert in downtown Chicago and before show, walked into Buddy's Guy bar.

He was sitting at end of bar, talking with patrons, including me. Very friendly and easy going  guy.

This is some of the meanest slide I've heard since Duane Allman and Lowell George (both RIP, alas).

Let me explain this
I saw Buddy a few years back.  He was awesome but he was touring with this 14 year old - Quinn Sullivan - who was incredible.  Buddy had him play lead on Little Wing (SRV-style) and I had to pick my jaw off the floor.

A treasure, see him if you get a chance, because nobody lives forever.

R.I.P  Truly a legend
I used to know a man who said that he knew God when he wore short pants.
But he's dead now.

Line by line:

1. Introduce topic
2. Repeat first line
3. Variation on first line. Add "Oh" and "baby" and "you know" for variety. Hit a syllable or word you didn't hit in lines 1 and 2
4. Repeat first line

Yes. How about the occasional Paul Butterfield or John Mayall? Keep up my nostalgia levels...
Everybody in my alien space craft loves this groovy 12-bar blues song...
People get upset about modern pop sounding the same but this could have been any old blues singer. Formulaic. Nothing makes this stand out for me except some particularly bad guitar.
 old_shep wrote:

I've read that Buddy Guy tried to reach for a wider audience and wound up pandering...according to some. Some of his tracks make me cringe because the singing and playing is so OTT. But check out his Wikipedia page: all the big-name guitarists have great praise for Buddy.

And yes, JrzyTmata and Bizarrefall are right: RP needs Robert Randolph.

Great - not enough BG on RP.
