Love the comments about this track. Like our present political and cultural discourse, it's all over the map, and very wryly entertaining. 
I hear EWF and recall my college party pal, Bernie. He'd do a fab falsetto impression of an EWF tune melody, then segue straight to about 70 turntable Klipsch speaker decibels of his favorite, Frank Zappa.  Worlds apart hilarious.

I feel truly blessed to have seen the "real" band including Maurice White and Phillip Bailey long ago. What a superb show and one of the most impeccable sounds in concert I have ever heard.

Yeah, these guys were all outstanding musicians; it's unfortunate how often that gets overlooked because they produced "hit" records.

This is the most soothing groove I could dream of listen to on a 2nd of January of a new year (2015).

I don't remember ever having heard E,W&F on RP - it's my first time anyway.

That bass; CRANK IT! The soaring vocal harmonies! The ringing, pinging guitar in there! Wish they made jams like this today! I echo the comment about laying out album covers on shag carpets...when lyrics were deep! They made great sifting & rolling surfaces, too!

Great song... not to mention that these guys had the best album covers... i remember laying on my parents shag carpet (the kind you had to rake to fluff it up) and getting lost in these album covers.... ah, Oakland in the 70s...

Disco but more than. Gospel but more than. EWF transcended them, and rock too. That's one way to explain that they appeared in the song rotation with Pink Floyd, ZZ Top and others of the late '70s heyday.  No one complained. The highlight was hearing and watching dorm mate Bernie karoaking this song at the party on Beacon Street -- I think before anyone had invented karaoke. Musta been the good weed. And the deliriously happy vibes. Perhaps because of the weed. To this day Bernie and I get a laugh.

Wow...Always wondered when & if I'd hear this nicely grooving tune here on RP. Indeed, this takes my ears, mind, & soul all the way back to when it was on the radio...Even as kids, we knew this was way good, and tunes like Serpentine Fire & Shining Star ROCKED!

Ah, this song takes me back. Lovely. I don't think I appreciated it enough back in the day. Lynyrd Skynyrd and BTO were the cool bands where I lived. I'd much rather listen to this now.
