Sweet relief calms me down
Makes me drown
Lost and found
Neighbours complain
Sheets are stained
Hotel shower
The best around

Spacing from Paris to New York
Silver sunglasses
Silver phone
Connect us to someone
Who doesn't know
About these feelings we can't control

People they want us to fall down
But we won't ever
Touch the ground
'Cause we're perfectly balanced
We'll float around
'Til noone is near
Do you hear this sound

Spacing from Paris to New York
Silver sunglasses
Silver phone
Connect us to someone
Who doesn't know
About these feelings we can't control

This strange feeling captures us
It generates this huge fuzz
I miss you all the time I must face
I miss your touch and your embrace

Happy new year everybody from Edinburgh Scotland x
I wish this was the original. The vocal is superior in that version. A lot of memories associated with it.

Not to bash this particular singer, she does a lovely job.  The original captured a fleeting feeling somehow that this version does not, and will always hold a special place in my heart.

Nicely played but a little sterile. The original with vox by Geike is superior and apparently has lyrical and musical earworms for me.
Great reference to the band Renaissance!
First quick listen I thought “great! Nico Case and the New Pornographers have a new album!”

It is derived, literally, from the appearance of someone who may be lost in (outer) space, drifting, and without a clue as to how to come home, and not very interested in doing so.

"Space out" "space case" "space chick" and undoubtedly others are applications of it.

"Spacing from Paris to NY" may be drifting, in the mind, from one city to the other; "Spacing in Vienna" may mean letting one's thoughts drift whilst in Vienna.

Pretty sure the first use of "space cadet" as a description was from an old
Honeymooners episode when Ralph was yelling at Norton who was watching
TV wearing his oversize goldfish bowl helmet ...

whatever happened to him?  for a while (in the 80's? ) he was everywhere with that deadpan style.   And I love Hooverphonic, too  :-)

He did a lot of voice over and then released "I Still Got A Pony", and I think went back to the voice work and some comedy tours.
fabulous

THE LOUDNESS IS REAL. Too noisy for me

Always wondered about the lyric "Spacing from Paris to New York"? Hooverphonic use it in another track of theirs, Nr.9 - "Saw her first, a few months ago, spacing in Vienna".

What is this "spacing", and how can I get involved?

I have always digged Hooverphonic. Cardigans meets Portishead kind of thing.

I assume it means "spacing-out", unless it's some Belgian idiom that means something different.

What IS that tune the orchestra is playing? When did it first appear? Sounds oooooold.
This is with the new singer. Her voice is very similar to the original singer. Check out their website. It is very luscious. Solid 8 for now.

Great build.

Wanna hear it again.
Ok,..it;s Friday afternoon...where's the Rn R? This sounds like Renasiance (sp) circa 1974..and I need some cocoa.

Oh man, I'm outta the loop!  I love Hooverphonic — had no idea they have a new singer, until now.  She seems talented BUT maybe not re-making their previous recordings.....  Only makes me long for the original, with it's lovely dreamy quality.  This girl is too crisp-sounding (precise enunciation) for me, at least for this track.  I am curious to hear new material with her.

Love the original Hooverphonic lineup. At least this new gal isn't as grating as the Natalie Merchant replacement for 10000 Maniacs.

Hey... that's exactly what I was thinking upon hearing this today!

While my favorite Hooverphonic had Geike singing, I'm finally getting used to this new singer. Not a bad arrangement.

I prefer Geike's voice, but I think this woman has a sweet voice as well.  I agree, nice arrangement.
Heard Hooverphonic first here on RP....hell, who am I kidding, I've heard it ONLY on RP!  Thanks again, Bill!
This is a new band for me.  Very good stuff.  As usual, thanks RP.
never heard Hooverphonic before!...scuttles off to find back catalogue......... :)
