When the roll is called up yonder
I hope you see me there

It's in the water, it's where you came from
It's in the water, it's where you came from

When the crowd begins to wonder
And they cry to see your face

It's in the water, it's in the story, of where you came from
Your sons and daughters, in all their glory, it's gonna shape her
And when they clash and come together, and start rising
Just drink the water where you came from, where you came from

So the roll it was called from yonder
Never sold yourself away

It's in the water, it's in the story, it's where you came from
The sons and daughters, in all their glory, it's gonna shape them
And when they clash and come together, and start rising
Just drink the water, where you came from, where you came from

And when they clash and come together, and start rising
Just drink the water, where you came from, where you came from

so neither hit or miss then?
Not their best tune.
Their first two albums were thrilling and unpredictable (in the best possible way). Then they decided they'd rather fill arenas with middling pop tunes, and that turned me right off. Next.
This band is hit or miss for me. This song is OK but not a hit,
I just saw "radioactive" and thought: cool Imaging Dragons.

Ok. No. Not their best song...
I'm a little concerned about the lyrics to this tune. It sounds nativist to me.

It might have been a fair reference when written but it's questionable in today's  political landscape.

Maybe I've just had too much to think.
Don't like much about these guys at all, and the vocalist seals that deal.
They are an interesting, skilled, and experimental band. I like some of their stuff a lot. I'm particularly impressed by cousin Matthew Followill's guitar playing.
I'd take Pickup Truck  off of this same album over this track though.
This one's somewhere between a 7 and 8 for me.
Hope they keep evolving.

I really like these guys. Saw them twice at separate Sasquatch festival instances years ago. Still one of my favorite shows and bands.

Looks like someone loaned the Kings some early 80s brit-rock records. Specifically the first two U2 albums..no?

And a little bit of Big Country thrown in...

I'm not there yet.

10-4

I wish there was, like, a 7.3 rating, for "Not my favorite but much better than would have thought."

This whole album is excellent.  You can listen to it in its entirety streamed on their web site.

I find it bizarre that so many ppl dislike KOL... i guess that comes with commercial success and making increasingly poppy songs. I'm still getting used to them being popular. When I listened to them the most, when Aha Shake Heartbreak came out, nobody in North America seemed to know who they were and looked at me like an idiot when I mentioned them as one of my favs. Their first 2 albums were very good. Some great select songs from the newer ones, but not as good as an album like Aha Shake.

Even weirder to me, is that I don't think RP has one song from either of their first two albums... I've tried to add a few, yet have plenty from newer albums. The songs from older albums fit on RP much better than songs from their never albums. I don't get it really.

I completely agree.  I was listening to their old stuff back before anyone else knew of them and I'm still listening to the first two albums more than any of this new stuff.  It sounded much less produced and real.  They weren't trying to conform to any particular sound that commercial radio wants to play.  They also have some awesome b-sides and alternate versions to their older stuff that's worth listening to.  I hear that this new album will be more like Aha Shake and Youth and Young Manhood and I hope that's true.

I agree.  Started listening and loving them with Youth and Young Manhood.  Everyone thought we were crazy.  I won free tickets to see them and BRMC and was so excited.  (right before Sex on Fires and after Howl)  It was one super concert and plenty of room.  Kings were known in Europe but certainly not here in middle America.  They are very "real"   yet they don't get any credit for their music.

Agreed.

I fear the novelty of this song will wear out very quickly, just like their previous songs.
Looks like someone loaned the Kings some early 80s brit-rock records. Specifically the first two U2 albums..no?

Been loven' these guys for years... Kinda cool/sad that they are getting so big.

This song's got kind of a Talking Heads flavor to it. I kinda like it!

A few notes in and I find I like it better than their earlier efforts.
Have to admit, I kind of like this.

Certainly better than the Firm's "Radioactive."
good stuff
New Kings of Leon? Golly, they sure kept us waiting!

Great new song!

well I'm not going to be first... oops
