I can't believe that it's real,
the way that you make me feel.
A burning deep down inside,
a love that I cannot hide.
Our love is you and me baby,
that makes the world go round.
And if you've been doin' lovin' with me,
layin' all my troubles down,
here I am, baby,
come and take me.
Here I am, baby,
come and take me,
take me by the hand.
Show me,
here I am, baby.
It always ends up this way,
me begging you every day.
A love that I cannot have,
you broke my heart into half.
Our love is you and me baby,
that make's the world go round.
And if you've been doin' lovin' with me,
layin' all my troubles down,
here I am, baby,
come and take me,
Here I am, baby,
come and take me,
take me by the hand.
Show me,
here I am, baby.
When I'm down I can always call you,
for a helpin' hand.
I know you'll do the best you can.
But it don't take much from me,
just my cup of joe.
Oh there's love inside me,
I believe there's one to be explodin',
It's tough for me, oh baby,
I can do worry,
tell me all your troubles.
You won't ever have to worry now,
Just one more thing, ask everybody,
everybody you see,
you'll find yourselve lost and alone on a darkened street,
here I am, baby,
come and take me.
Here I am, baby,
come and take me,
take me by the hand.
Show me,
here I am, baby...
the way that you make me feel.

It's unbelievable this is over 40 years old, it still sounds so fresh

Nice cover. (..an acknowledgement to UB40 would've been fair though..)

The Hi Rhythm section also did a stunning job backing Frazey Ford on the Indian Ocean album, it would be great to hear it on RP.
The production on this, and his other big hits, is so clean and perfect. Not a lot of noise, some simple horns and strings, but nothing syrupy or superfluous.

Normally I would not comment here on music that I don't like. Music is so personal. While I can get quite upset about some artists, others out there love it. Ain't music beautiful?
But after hearing this I must say, respectfully, I now dislike UB40 just a bit more than before.

This album would be a required desert island stream for me.
Al Green lives in Memphis, Tennessee folks!
You can still catch him at his church.

South Carolina? That's a damned low bar.
I wish I could disagree with this. On the other hand, the bar isn't any higher in a lot of other places these days.

Ha ha! (and the worst of it is that he's probably a better choice than some that currently hold office)

It does not get any better than this! Rev. Al Green is sublime.
I love the cover art! And the song is amazing!
Great song, even better artwork! You can't argue with the collective opinion of the RP listeners. He's the man!
Is that Al or Barack?
Awful!

cranked that one up.
I like Al Green a lot, but I would prefer not to see him shirtless.
I am not a friend of this Big Band, soul, reverend sound!

Gotta bump it to a 7 on account of the cover. I try something like that and it would look like I have back problems. Only a 7 because UB40 totally ruined this song for my psyche, sorry Al.
If only it had actually been him, that would be true.

Oh well, I'll take this along with whatever it crashes into.

I heard this by UB40 and hated it. I didn't know it was an Al Green song, but I still don't like it much. Al Green has some absolutely wonderful songs, but in my opinion, this really isn't some of his better work. Sorry, peeps.
Sad to say that I've only heard UB40's version until now. This is definitely much better!
Can I get a witness for the Rev?!!
Top Drumming!
Great album cover!

Good one, Bill.
